Whibley was born in Scarborough, Ontario, and in 1996 he met with the future Sum 41 drummer Steve Jocz. He now plays a modified Pewter Fender American Telecaster HH, Fender 72' Telecaster Deluxe (also modified) and a Fender Standard Telecaster. He also has been known to Play Gibson SGs, and Gibson Les Pauls. On all of his Telecasters and even his SGs you can find large X's (either stickers or just tape) put on by him. He plays the drums when Stevo Jocz is singing in the Sum 41 Alter-Ego band Pain For Pleasure. In the song Pieces when porformed live Whibley sometimes uses a piano or keyboard instead of a guitar.
