This article may be lacking in neutrality as Justice Shiranee Tilakawardena has often been criticized for unconventional sentencing practices, imposing sentences far more severe than international norms standards of mercy, particularly of a classist nature not giving due consideration to mitigating circumstances in crimes committed by the poorer sections of the community.
