Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!Template:Z129

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Gregory G. Curtin, Ph.D., JD, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://futureofgov.com/about-2/meet-gregory-curtin/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) • @CRG Int'l: Hello! Unfortunately, because we can't independently verify that permission has been given, that material as it stands now is still a copyright violation. Because of the license Wikipedia publishes under, we need some more things done before before we can accept this text. Since Wikipedia releases its content under This Free License (which allows anyone anywhere to use, re-use, modify, parody, sell for a profit, or basically any purpose whatsoever), we must ensure that source material is similarly licensed. While the owners may permit this content to be used here, I imagine they don't want it changed, sold, or any of the other possibilities that our free license allows.
  • So in order to use this text on Wikipedia, the source web page must release its content under the same license (which allows all those same uses I mentioned), or they can release just this text under that license (again with the same understanding of how it may be used by anyone). For instructions on how to do that, see This Link. That will entail some emailing to prove the owners of that text are in fact authorizing its release, and confirming they understand what that entails.
  • In the meantime, the copyrighted text will probably have to be deleted, but can easily be re-added once permission is processed. Thanks for your contributions, CrowCaw 23:01, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gregory G. Curtin, Ph.D., JD requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://futureofgov.com/about-2/meet-gregory-curtin/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ☾Loriendrew☽ (talk) 01:55, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright

I'm sorry, but the text you imported is copyright and cannot be brought into Wikipedia. This is because Wikipedia is licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0 and the GFDL for free reuse by anyone anywhere (including modification and commercial use), and copyright text is not compatible with this licence. Text that is licensed under these may normally be imported, but by licensing, the owner loses control of where the text may appear. Please see WP:COPYVIO. Licensing of the text may be done, but this must be done by the means given in that policy. We cannot accept an unverifiable claim on a talk page. I'm sure you can understand why we are rather keen on preventing any possible abuse. I would not advise licensing the text, as the wording is rather promotional in appearance in places ("is especially skilled at managing" for example), and this is not compatible with our neutral style. I would suggest reading WP:BIO and WP:RS and doing a rewrite (in a neutral encyclopaedic way, and steering well clear of the blog wording) in your user space. I can't provide a link for you to use, but this can be explained later. Peridon (talk) 12:43, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Peridon. Thank you for your thorough explanation and the advice. We were going to donate the text from the website under "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported and GNU Free Documentation License by emailing to permissions-en@wikimedia.org as instructed on Wikipedia Declaration of Consent page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Declaration_of_consent_for_all_enquiries). But, since you think the text of the article has a promotional "flavor" and is not neutral and you are advising re-writing an entirely new encyclopedic article we will take your advice. Question: "Since our User Name "CRG Int'l" has been blocked indefinitely, should we create another user profile/name for submitting a new article? do you have any other links or advises before we start? many thanks.

Click on History at the top of the page, and then click on the date of my last edit in the list. Copy the 'spamun' template (it's one of the two white bits in the blocking notice - the other is 'unblock'), then come back to here and paste it. Oh, before you do this, chose a name not connected to the organisation (although something like 'Fred at CRG' is acceptable under the policy). Doesn't have to be a real life personal name, but don't chose something like 'Barack Obama'... When you've pasted and filled in, click Preview. You can then use the 'check availability' thing. When everything's OK, click save. Someone will review the request, and when you get a pale green box, go to WP:CHU and scroll down to Simple. All this is a lot less complicated than it looks, by the way. The change is very quick nowadays, too. When you make your new draft, put it at User:newname/DRAFT. Obviously, put your new name in there, then click and save. This gives you a subpage to work on with less hassle than going into article space. When it's sort of ready, ask for advice and opinion. We'll either launch it for you or, if you're autoconfirmed by then, tell you how to do it. Peridon (talk) 10:35, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
