This Thing Called Life is the second studio album by American R&B recording artist August Alsina. It was released on December 11, 2015, by Def Jam Recordings.[1]

Background

Following the release of his debut album Testimony (2014), which became critically successful, August Alsina began recording for his second album. On June 28, 2015, during the BET Awards, Alsina released a accompanying by the music video for his lead single, "Hip-Hop".

Singles

On April 21, 2015, August Alsina released the album's lead single, "Hip-Hop". The production on the song was handled by Knucklehead; the same producer, who produced the most work of Alsina's successful singles (including "I Luv This Shit"). The music video for "Hip-Hop", which was released, during the 2015's BET Awards.

The album's second single, "Why I Do It" was released on August 28, 2015. The song features guest vocals from a American rapper Lil Wayne, while the production was handled by Soundz and Rock City.

The album's third single, "Song Cry" was released on October 28, 2015. The production on the song was handled by Brandon "B.A.M." Alexander.

The album's fourth single, "Been Around the World" was released on December 3, 2015. The song features guest vocals from a fellow recording artist Chris Brown, while the production was handled by Knucklehead; the same producer, who recently produced the song "Hip-Hop", which latter released as the first single.

On December 3, 2015, the album's fifth single, "Dreamer" was released. The production on the song was handled by Knucklehead.
