Parachute® is an acclaimed European type foundry with offices in Athens and London. It was founded in 2001 by Panos Vassiliou[1] who was joined later by 13 other designers all coming from diverse design fields.

Apart from its commercial line of typefaces, Parachute®[2] offers bespoke branding services with corporate typefaces and lettering. For over a decade, Parachute has provided custom and corporate font services to high profile international customers such as Bank of America, European Commission, UEFA, Samsung, IKEA, Interbrand, National Geographic, Financial Times, National Bank of Greece, Alpha Bank and many others.

During its first 2 years Parachute[3] focused in the local market by offering a select number of Latin and Greek typefaces including a few revivals of historical importance.

The year 2003 marked the beginning of a new era for Parachute with the release of the book/catalog “Trendsetting Typography”[4] which won an award from the Print European Design Annual 2004. Since then an emphasis was placed on developing multilingual support for its existing type library as well as for new releases.

The following 4 years (2003-2007) were spent developing a considerable number of original typefaces which supported simultaneously Latin, Cyrillic and Greek. The list included several award-winning typefaces such as PF Centro Pro[5], PF Champion Script Pro[6] and PF Goudy Initials Pro. These typefaces were released for the first time online in 2007.

In 2008, Parachute[7] won a major Gold award at the European Design Awards 2008 for the PF Centro type families which were designed by Panos Vassiliou[8]. Ever since Parachute has won more than 25 awards and distinctions including the prestigious Red Dot: Grand Prix 2012[9].

In 2010, Parachute released the first ever Arabic version of DIN. PF DIN Text Arabic[10][11][12] was designed as a collaboration between Panos Vassiliou and Arab designer Hasan Abu Afash.
