Nawab Mohammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai is the Nawab of all (Pushtuns) living in Afghanistan and in Pakistan.
He became Nawab after the death of Nawab Tamoor Shah Khan Jogezai. While was still alive, Nawab Tamoor Shah Khan Jogezai nominated Nawab Mohammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai as the next Nawab. He was survived an assassination attempt on Qilla Saifullah in 1988 but seriously injured. On the request of Chairman of PashtunKhwa Milli Awami Party, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, he joined the Party for the Unity of All Pashtoons. He was senator in the Upper House of the Parliament of Pakistan for from 2003 to 2009.[1][2][3]
He is the convener of 'Pakhtoon Ulasi Qaumi Jirga' (Pashtoon National Council).[4] The Jirga was held in March 1998 and was attended by the majority of tribal elders throughout Western and Northern Pashtoonkhwa (a heavily Pashtoon populated area of Balochistan).
He also participated in a Peace Jirga, commissioned by President Hamid Karzai in late 2008.[5] In Kabul, Nawab Mohammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai had a series of meetings to discuss Pakhtoon unity with Asfand Yar Wali Khan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai and President Karzai.
