This is obviously just ad copy for Benge Trumpet Company? Two out of the four sources are the Benge Trumpet catalog. And no impartial sources are cited for why the standard bore is so much better than the smaller bore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.60.2.14 (talk) 01:15, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
- What a pity that you made, although clumsily, quite a good point about the pro-Benge feel of this article, and then ruined your point with your pathetic, childish additions or "vandalism" as they are also known. Play nice and edit seriously, or please go away. If you want to help improve the encyclopaedia, you will be welcomed. DBaK (talk) 06:45, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
- I've made some changes which I hope go some way to addressing your concerns. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 08:55, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Reading it today, I don't see a problem. I believe Benge's effort was the first to actually meet the standard implied by the name: a trumpet that fit into a (large!) pocket. I.e., played and sounded like a normal horn, but in a small form. There may be a dearth of citable material, I don't know, but I don't believe that the article as it sits today is deficient. Benge itself, of course, is effectively gone and has been for years, so this cannot be considered commercial bias. I own one of the small-bell cheapies, and if it were not so small I would personally escort the wretched thing to the landfill, it plays so dreadfully. (Pocket, it is, but trumpet? Not so sure about that!) ISC PB (talk) 15:17, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Notable Players
Would a "notable players" section be worth adding? Don Cherry, who is a major figure in the 1960s Jazz avante guard, played one almost exclusively, and it was considered an important component of his very unique tone. Even if he's the only one (but I think there are others) it might be worthwhile.
