VIFF Dragons and Tigers Award for Young Cinema is an award from the Vancouver International Film Festival for a film director from Asia-Pacific region. It awards a creative and innovative film, made early in the director's career, which has not yet won significant international recognition. Since its inception in 1994, nominated films have been selected by film scholar and critic Tony Rayns.[1]
Tony Rayns also curates all non-Chinese language film featured in the Dragons and Tigers category. Chinese-language film scholar Shelly Kraicer also joined Dragons and Tigers as curator in 2007 for Chinese-language films.
