The Bilqees Sarwar Foundation (BSF) is a registered foundation based in Lahore, Pakistan, which provides public health and education support to the local community as well as around the world. Established by the Sarwar family in order to give back to the community, it is the charitable arm of NRS International, manufacturer and developer of relief essentials for the humanitarian, development and public health sectors, with its manufacturing facility H. Sheikh Noor-ud-Din & Sons (HSNDS) in Pakistan.

Mission

BSF is built on the Sarwar family's belief that ‘charity begins at home. It is dedicated to improving the access to and quality of public healthcare, and is widening education opportunities for vulnerable communities. BSF aids the local Lahore community and also provides in-kind and financial donations to numerous international projects to develop a sustainable future for communities facing humanitarian or environmental crises.

Public Health Initiatives

Razia Begum Dialysis Centre at Bilqees Sarwar Hospital

The Bilqees Sarwar Hospital (BSH) provides the employees of the HSNDS factory, their family, and vulnerable patients in Pakistan with free and subsidized healthcare; this includes 50 dialysis machines to use without a cost and free eye-care treatments ranging from laser vision correction to minor surgeries.[1] Since its inception, the hospital has served a community of 500,000 citizens and treats up to 3,000 eye patients per month. The hospital offers a range of other services, including:

  • Ophthalmology
  • Complete lab testing facility
  • Consulting general practitioner
  • Ultrasound
  • Electrocardiography (ECG)
  • Pharmacy

In June, 2016 BSF established Razia Begum Dialysis Centre (RBDC) at BSH, Punjab's largest dialysis centre located in Lahore, patients suffering from kidney disease are treated with the best of medical facilities without any cost. Equipped with the advanced technology and staffed with highly skilled medical professionals, it allows patients to lead longer, healthier lives. The centre provides free dialysis to up to 4500 patients on a monthly basis, and has provided 5792 dialysis treatment to date.[2]

Mobile Clinic in Syrian Refugee Camps

BSF has supported Alseeraj for Development and Healthcare in order for it to continue its mobile medical clinic in Syrian refugee camps in eastern Lebanon.[3] With this financial assistance, the mobile medical clinic now offers free healthcare and medical supplies to 1,300 beneficiaries per month.[4]

Mayo Hospital Renovations

BSF is one of the biggest donors of the Mayo Hospital, one of the oldest and largest hospitals in Punjab, Pakistan.[5]

Education Initiatives

Scholarship Programmes

As part of BSF's commitment to education, it has granted 77 scholarships worth USD 33,398 to students at the Customs Public School in Lahore. The scholarship programme supports young students from the age of 3 to 13 who may otherwise not have had enough resources to pursue their primary education. BSF has also donated USD 11,450 in the form of 40 scholarships to Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust to help provide quality education for underprivileged students. BSF also partnered with The City School in Lahore to sponsor the 7th Annual City School Model United Nations Conference.[6]

Bilqees Camp of Hope in Syria

The Bilqees Sarwar Foundation's parent company, NRS International, joined the Global Business Coalition for Education to extend their support towards the education of Syrian refugee children. NRS International, through BSF, has donated multi-purpose tents to serve as temporary learning spaces and homes for children to learn and live in.[7] BSF has also donated shelter and core relief items for 500 Internally Displaced Persons in Aleppo, Syria. School kits for children at the Bilqees Camp of Hope were also provided through a Back-to-School Donation Campaign which was supported by the online community.[8]

Humanitarian Assistance

Nepal Disaster Relief

In April 2015, when a devastating earthquake hit Nepal, NRS International, through BSF, provided over 400 core relief items and solar products to Nepalese earthquake victims.[9]
