Kim Bo-reum (Hangul: 김보름, born 6 February 1993) is a female South Korean speed skater.
Kim is the current South Korean record holder in the 3000 and 5000 metres.[1]

Chronicle
Short Track
The Beginning
Kim began short track speed skating when she was in grade five in primary school in Daegu, Republic of Korea. Kim was initially influenced to try the sport by her friends.[3]
Elementary School
On August 2, 2003 at Daegu Indoor Ice Rink, Kim from Munseong Elementary School finished first in 5th/6th grade girl's 1000m at the 7th Daegu Mayor's Cup Speed Skating Meet.[6]
Middle School
2007 Asia Junior Short Track Championships
2000m Relay
From 15 to 16, December, 2007 in Taiwan, Kim from Seonghwa Middle school, along with Hyeonseon Hwang from Gwacheon Middle School and Jaewon Song from Yeonseong Middle School, finished first in girl's 2000m relay at the 2007 Asia Junior Short Track Championships.[7]
1000m
From 15 to 16, December, 2007 in Taiwan, Soyeon Lee from Pyeongchon Middle School finished first and Kim finished second in girl's 1000m.[7]
Speed Skating
Transition
Kim switched from short track to speed skating in 2010. Kim decided to become a speed skater after watching the performances of Korean athlete Seunghoon Lee. Lee had switched from short track to speed skating and went on to win medals at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.[3]

On November 2010 in Tomakomai, Japan, Kim from Jeonghwa Girls' High School won girl's 3000m at the 2010/2011 Speed Junior World Cup.[2]
1500m
On November 2010 in Tomakomai, Japan, Kim won girl's 1500m at the 2010/2011 Speed Junior World Cup.[2]
65th National Allround Speed Skating Championships
On December 20, 2010 at Taereung International Skating Rink, Gongreung-dong, Seoul, Doyoung Park(17) from Deogjeong High School finished first with a record of 4:21.18 and Kim(17) finished second with a record of 4:22.30 in 3000m at the 65th National Allround Speed Skating Championships. Kim earned the qualification, given to two top finishers, for the Asian Winter Game, scheduled to take place on next January in Kazakhstan.[8]

At the National Junior Speed Skating Championships, ended on January 14, 2011, Kim finished first in overall with a new meet record of 167.430 points.[2]

At the National Junior Speed Skating Championships, ended on January 14, 2011, Kim finished first in 3000m with a new meet record of 4:21.30.[2]
1500m
At the National Junior Speed Skating Championships, ended on January 14, 2011, Kim finished first in 1500m with a new meet record of 2:03.93.[2]
7th Astana-Almaty Asian Winter Games
3000m
At Astana-Almaty Indoor Speed Skating Rink in Kazakhstan, Kim(18) finished heat 3 with the best time of the day with 4:10.54, but fell behind of Hozmi Masako by 2.72 seconds after heat 4 in the women's 3000m final at the 7th Astana-Almaty Asian Winter Games to win silver medal.[9]
5000m
On February 5, 2011 at Astana Indoor Speed Skating Rink in Kazakhstan, Doyoung Park(18) from Deogjeong High School, Korea, won silver medal with a record of 7:15.63 behind of Hozmi Masako from Japan by 6.40 seconds and Kim(19) finished fourth with a record of 7:22.92 in women's 5000m at the 7th Astana-Almaty Asian Winter Games.[10]

At Taereung International Skating Rink Doyoung Park from Deogjeong High School finished first with a new meet record of 4:17.42 and Kim finished second with a new meet record of 4:22.21 in 3000m of women's college division at the 92nd National Winter Sports Festival, held from February 16, 2011 to February 18, 2011.[11]

At Taereung International Skating Rink Doyoung Park from Deogjeong High School finished first with a new meet record of 2:04.37 and Kim finished second with a record of 2:05.49 in 1500m of women's college division at the 92nd National Winter Sports Festival, held from February 16, 2011 to February 18, 2011.[11]
2011/2012 2nd ISU Speed Skating World Cup
On November 27, 2011 in Astana, Kazakhstan, Kim from Korea National Sport University won first bronze medal with a record of 7:26.85 in mass start at the 2011/2012 2nd ISU Speed Skating World Cup.[12]
66th National Allround Speed Skating Championships
On 19 and 20, November, 2011 at Taereung International Skating Rink, Gongreung-dong, Seoul, Kim finished first with 172.555 points in overall at the 66th National Overall Speed Skating Championships.[13]
2011/2012 3rd ISU Speed Skating World Cup
At the 2011/2012 3rd ISU Speed Skating World Cup, ended on December 5, 2011 in Heerenveen, Netherland, Kim, along with Juyeon Lee of Dongducheon City Office and Seonyeong Noh from Korea National Sport University, finished third with a record of 3:03.18 behind Canada with a record of 3:00.01 and Russia with a record of 3:02.38 in team pursuit.[14]

At the 2011/2012 5th ISU Speed Skating World Cup, ended on February 12, 2012 in Hamar, Norway, Kim(19), along with Juyeon Lee(25) and Seonyeong Noh(23), won bronze medal with a record of 3:05.65, behind Poland with a record of 3:05.57 in team pursuit.[15]

At the 2011/2012 5th ISU Speed Skating World Cup, ended on February 12, 2012 in Hamar, Norway, Kim finished 16th with a record of 4:15.66 in 3000m.[15]
93rd National Winter Sports Festival
On February 16, 2012 at Taereung International Skating Rink, Kim won gold medal with a new meet record of 4:18.11 ahead of Hyoeun Kwon from Sungshin Women's University, who finished with a record of 4:47.69, by around 30 seconds in speed skating 3000m of women's college division at the National Winter Sports Festival.[16]
