Sheryl Ann Nields (born September 1, 1967) is an award-winning American photographer known in particular for her portraits and moving photography of entertainment personalities.

Early Years

Sheryl Nields grew up in Los Angeles. After graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1991, Nields began her career photographing musicians and bands. Some of her earliest work appeared in Spin Magazine. Her photograph of musician Beck was featured in the July, 1994 issue of Spin. [1]

Sheryl Nields and her work are featured in “The World’s Top Photographers: Portraits” by Fergus Greer along with the work of 34 other international portrait photographers including Herb Ritts, Lord Snowdon and Art Streiber . (RotoVision 2004) Nields’ images include Heather Graham, Mandy Moore, Toby McGuire, Naomi Watts, Heather Palmer and Milla Jovovich.[6]

4 Inches

Sheryl Nields donated her time and work for 4 Inches, a coffee table book of photographs by female photographers of female cultural figures only wearing Cartier jewels and Jimmy Choo shoes. “4 Inches” refers to the height of the high-heel shoes worn by the models.[7] The photos featured in the book were exhibited at Christie's Galleries in New York and London prior to their auction by Christie’s. Her photograph is of Carmen Electra.[8]

Sheryl Nields’ work is featured inTraummanner, Starfotgrafen zeigen ihr Vision vom Ideal and Traumfrauen, Starfotografen zeigen ihre Vision von Schonheit,[9] and the photography featured in the books was presented in two exhibitions that travelled internationally. The exhibition TRAUMMÄNNER, in 2011, was the follow-up project to TRAUMFRAUEN which was presented in 2008 at the Deichtorhallen.[10] Her images include Scarlett Johansson, Johnathan Rhys Meyers and Josh Brolin among others.

Dita Striptease

Dita Stripteese, a 3-book boxed set, was a collaboration by Sheryl Nields and Dita Von Teese and was published by HarperCollins Publishers in 2009. The flipbook was created by photographing burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese to capture motion.[11] Each book is a set of bound photographs that flip page-by-page to animate three striptease routines.[12]
