Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection is a Portugal-based, international brand of hotels and resorts in Portugal and Brazil. What was formerly known as Dom Pedro Hotels Group, is now Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection, following the purchase of the five golf courses[1] in VilamouraAlgarve, Portugal.

Overview

As of 2017, the Dom Pedro Group has a series of Hotels in Portugal and Brazil.

In 2017 Dom Pedro Group re-branded themselves as Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection following the purchase of the Victoria Golf Course, The Old Course Golf Club, Millenium Golf Course, Pinhal Golf Course and Laguna Golf Course[2][3] in Vilamoura, Algarve[4][5]

History

Stefano Saviotti, who opened the Dom Pedro Madeira (formerly Dom Pedro Baía) in 1973, then assuming control of the group in 1973 and making their first investments in Algarve tourism, with the opening of Dom Pedro Vilamoura (formerly Dom Pedro Golf) in 1976.[6]


Golf courses

A purchase by Dom Pedro Hotels & Golf Collection has led to the ownership of 5 golf courses in Vilamoura as of 2016:

  • Victoria Golf Course, an 18 holes, Par 72 golf course designed by Golf Legend Arnold Palmer in 2004, covering over 90 hectares, is one of the most complete golf complexes in Europe. Victoria Golf Course was the host venue of the World Cup Golf Championship in 2005, as well as being the host venue for Portugal Masters Golf Tournament since 2007.
  • The Old Course Golf Club, presents an 18 holes, Par 73 golf course designed by Frank Pennink. It is popularized as "The Great Dame" of the Algarve, The Old Course is a historical and internationally recognized course for Golf.
  • Millennium Golf Course, founded in the year 2000, is one of the most visited golf courses in Europe, and offers a 27 hole complex.
  • Pinhal Golf Course, originally founded in 1976 and renewed in 1985, it was designed by both Frank Pennink and Robert Trent Jones Sr. and possesses a par of 72.
  • Laguna Golf Course designed by golf course architect Joseph Lee and originally founded in 1990, it offers an 18 hole course, multiple playing conditions and a clubhouse.[7]

Restaurants

Búzios Beach Club – Dropped right on the Vilamoura Marina Beach, the seating provides an exceptional view to the ocean. It specializes in fresh fish, seafood and fruity cocktails, but also serves salads, steaks and sandwiches. The place also allows for kayak and pedal boat rental. Dom Pedro guests are offered am exclusive area with thatched umbrellas and loungers at the Vilamoura beach.

Il Gattopardo – Top Italian gourmet restaurant in Lisbon, with a luxurious and inviting atmosphere, located within the Dom Pedro Lisboa hotel. It offers a range of Italian dishes and specialties by Sicilian Chef Michele Bono. Restaurant with a view from the terrace overlooking Lisbon directed towards social and business meetings.

Le Café Bistrot – Restaurant within Dom Pedro Lisboa hotel in Lisbon, that serves traditional Portuguese cuisine specialties every day from a different region in Portugal, prepared by chef Gil Martins.

The Old Course – A traditionally English-styled restaurant that serves international cuisine with a view to the The Old Course in Vilamoura. This restaurant has the capacity for 48 customers, a terrace for an additional 72 and holds the possibility for a total of 120 for special events.

Pinhal Golf Course – Located within the Pinhal Golf Course Clubhouse in Vilamoura, it is surrounded by a mix of a forest and an urban environment. It serves a range of international dishes, including the traditional english breakfast but also club sandwiches, pastas, fish and meat dishes. It has a capacity for 60 customers, a terrace for an additional 50 with the possibility for 110 in special events.

Sailing team

In 1998, Stefano Saviotti established a sailing team, the Dom Pedro Regattas sailing team. Since its creation, Dom Pedro Group has hosted a series of sailing races and championships. The Dom Pedro Ragattas team furthermore has received numerous of awards since their inception.

  • 2011 – SB20 National Championship – 1st place
  • 2007 – 1st Place at the Bénéteau Cup, 1st Place at the Casino de Lisboa Regatta, 1st Place at the LVI Walter Brasch, 1st Place at the II Epal Cup, 1st Place at the Chivas Cup
  • 2006 – VII Costa do Estoril Sailing Open – Quebramar–Chrysler Cup: Stefano Saviotti's Mumm 36 was the Iberian Champion in the IMS 600 class
  • 2005 – 1st round of the "Volta a Portugal"
  • 2003 – Portuguese National Vice-Champion – IMS Regatta Class
  • 2002 – Portuguese National Champion IMS Cruiser Class & 3rd place in the II Dom Pedro Ocean Regatta & 1st place in the Cruiser Class
  • 2001 – Portuguese National Vice-Champion JOD 35
  • 2000 – 2nd place in the Vilamoura-Porto Santo Regatta & 3rd place in the Dom Pedro Ocean Regatta.
