Tej Lalvani (born July 1974) is a British businessman, and the CEO of the UK's largest vitamin company Vitabiotics, which was founded by his father Kartar Lalvani. He is best known for being one of the "dragons" on the BBC television series Dragons' Den.

Career

Lalvani started his career working in the warehouse of his father's company Vitabiotics over twenty years ago, before succeeding his father as CEO.[3]

Along with his wife, Lalvani runs a property investment business in London.[4]

In 2012, Lalvani was named Young Entrepreneur at the Asian Business Awards as well as Young Entrepreneur of the Year by TiE[5] in 2013. In October 2017, he ranked at number 48 on the GG2 Power List of the most influential Asian people in Britain[6].

Dragons' Den

In 2017, Lalvani became one of the Dragons on the BBC's Dragons' Den after Sarah Willingham and Nick Jenkins left the show. Lalvani was a replacement for businessman Steve Parish who had been set to become a new Dragon but was unable to commit enough time to the show.[7]

Personal life

He is from an Indian descent and has Indian parents. In 2011, Lalvani married Tara Ruby in London.[2] Lalvani's father is businessman Kartar Lalvani who founded Vitabiotics in 1971.[7] His mother is a former Miss India and a Miss World runner-up.[5]

Lalvani lives in London.[8] Aside from his business interests, he composes music and plays the drums, keyboard and guitar.[4]
