I have decided, after much consideration, to discontinue my support for Wikipedia indefinitely. The project has become simply too nasty for me. I will edit actively on other Wikimedia projects. This talk page is automatically archived by Werdnabot. Any sections older than 7 days are automatically archived to User talk:Werdna/Archive/Archive-Sep2024. Sections without timestamps are not archived. All archived sections are listed at the section index.

I love torturing your little bot : P

An automated message from Werdnabot. Hi there, I tried to archive your user talk page, but it seems that you have an error in your Werdnabot directive that prevented me from correctly archiving your User talk page.

I don't think it likes the fact I split off the top of my talk page into a separate header template. If it's too tricky to get Werdnabot to process my talk page, perhaps, the bot should recognise
<!--- Werdnabot_stop--> <!---Werdnabot_resume-->
Thanks. --  Netsnipe    07:04, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently not. Move the directive back into your main user talk page. — Werdna talk criticism 07:06, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Werdnabot on Huwiki

Hi! I'm Dami talk from the Hungarian Wikipedia, where we don't have any automated solution for archiving. Recently I suggested there that we should have one, and I would like to ask your help to set up a clone of your bot on huwiki. If you would be willing to help, could you please provide the source code for Werdnabot or open an account on the Hungarian WP. Either way your help would be much apreciated. Please answer me on my Hungarian talk page--Dami 17:59, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for your answer (it was especially pleasing that you translated it, though it was really uneccesary). I'll be glad to localise the interface, and maybe a basic help (I am short a bit on free time...). After that if I announce it on the local Village Pump I think your services would be much apreciated. I don't know if you have any other projects, but if you think any of them would be beneficial to other WP communities I would be glad to help in localising them. Please answer me on my Hungarian talk page--Dami 20:04, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Thanks, I'll start working on the translations, and hope to finish them by the end of this week. Meanwhile could you give an explanation to [1]'s function (I'm not totally at home with regex, but if I know what it does, I can ask somebody to localise it), and also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Werdnabot/Interface/Boilerplate and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Linkhere seem to be empty pages ::(.--Dami 16:37, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again! I see now that the linkhere has text in its source.
I'd like to ask you, what is the functions of the Months page, and the abbreviations there, where do they appear?
--Dami 18:21, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I finished translating the pages you sent me, (they're linked to from here: [2]). I didn't translate the boilerplate as the link you gave is to an empty page :(, and also I didn't translate the Timestampsregex, because I think it can be left in English until I see where does it come up.
All that being said, I would like to start working on translating the templates at the top of the userpage (hopefully without breaking your bot's template detection...) and if there are any other help pages about the stuff like <!--werdnabot-noarchive-->, and what to do with unsigned comments etc. And thanks again for the work you put into the internationalisation of your bot --Dami 18:51, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The only thing that can't be translated is the tags starting with . The rest can be translated. As for the timestampregex, this is a Regular expression for the way timestamps are shown on your wiki.

Hi! I sent you an e-mail, and repeat it here in case you didn't get it: I'm complete with the translation, they are here : [3] , (in the right column), they just need to be moved or copied to the right place. Regards--Dami 21:49, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Werdnabot and the RD

Hello! A lot of Wikipedians at the reference desk are in need of a bot to help with archivals. Would you be able to help us out? --HappyCamper 11:20, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again...just thought I'd follow up on the last post I left you. Have you had a chance to give it a bit of thought? :-) --HappyCamper 03:54, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm terribly sorry, I've been working on TawkerBotTorA, interwiki Werdnabot, patches for MediaWiki, and a thousand other things at once. In response, yes, it should work just fine just as it would on a talk page. — Werdna talk criticism 03:58, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's great news! I know you're really busy with other projects on Wikipedia. Could you tell us what would make it easier for you to help us with the archivals? We basically need to archive every day, and dump the questions onto a subpage. But, in addition to this, we need to add headers for the dates, and create various subpages for new incoming questions. Can Werdnabot do this too? --HappyCamper 04:13, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It'll cost you Yeah, sure. Someday in the next month or so I'll get around to it. — Werdna talk criticism 04:17, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, don't scratch that thought! You're quite deserving of recognition and praise for the work you do here. I'll check back a bit later then. Keep up the good work! Thanks so much :-) --HappyCamper 04:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, there was a request for an archival bot on WP:BOTREQ, and I've filled it now :) Just stumbled across this page, so thought I'd let you know so you don't take up your time doing it again :) Martinp23 11:05, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Godspeed Werdnabot!

If the first post in a thread (or maybe first several) don't have dates, Werdnabot doesn't archive the section. Anomo 09:46, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If no posts in a thread have no dates, it doesn't archive the section. This is expected behaviour. — Werdna talk criticism 10:49, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Err I looked closer and they all were signed, just sort of had a weird layout. Please see the first thread on my talk page. Anomo 10:56, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It worked!! Anomo 07:13, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to post IRC log

Hi there, I don't know if you've seen the discussions at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Diane Farrell and elsewhere but I seem to have pissed some people off - ironically in one of the first times I've used IRC. User:Malangali asked in #wikipedia-en on Thursday about the Diane Farrell article and you responded. After you left I continued to discuss it with him, and he later provided significant evidence of notability on my talk page. After checking it out and considering the situation (and that the two previous speedies were out of process) I restored the article. I was just wondering if I could have your permission to post the log somewhere on wiki to prove that nothing underhanded went on, that I did not decide then and there on IRC, and to set some people's minds at rest. the wub "?!" 12:35, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead. I don't care. — Werdna talk criticism 12:44, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So what am i doing wrong now

On my talk page, I have somehow screwed up my archiving. I hate to be a bother, but it appears i am archiving the information, only i don't know where it is ending up. Let me know if you have a chance to look at it.

It's going here. — Werdna talk criticism 23:32, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Archivebot reminder

Hi, this is just to remind you of our interest in automatically archiving it:Wikipedia:CommonsTicker and (more urgently) splitting the current archives into smaller chunks (daily or weekly). Also, a timeframe about when you would be able to work on it would be useful to decide about manual archiving for now. Thanks! --BrokenArrow 09:56, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This will be likely hugely imporant for the en:Wikipedia:CommonsTicker as well, once it's set up (pending db catching up) as the volume there will be immense, I suspect. ++Lar: t/c 10:44, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've bumped How to Make Money Like a Porn Star from speedy to AFD as I didn't feel it was spam and the db tag was substed. The deletion debate is here. Feel free to replace my text with a deletion reason. MER-C 10:08, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about the Editor class in WikiFunctions

Hi Werdna, would you give me some advice for using your class at Wikipedia_talk:AutoWikiBrowser#Plugin.2FLibrary? Is it suitable for the job I have in mind?

I'll probably start playing and testing anyway... :) --kingboyk 19:49, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Werdnabot (irc) has flag

Hi. Per Ram-Man's final approval [4], I've granted Werdnabot (irc) a bot flag. Cheers, Redux 01:58, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've approved your IRC bot. It has the flag and is ready to go. Have fun. -- RM 02:00, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Werdnabot

Hallo, your Werdnabot has now botstatus in german Wikipedia. -- sk

Werdnabot

Werdnabot is running way too often and generating all sorts of false "new messages" banners for me. Why does it need to be run every few hours? Archiving isn't that important. Could you please reduce the speed to something more reasonable, like maybe once a day? --Cyde Weys 23:20, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. — Omegatron 02:46, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Werdnabot has been changed to run once per day. Thanks for the feedback. — Werdna talk criticism 03:20, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Werdna Sandbox Bot

I've tried to tell Essjay, but he hasn't been around in a while... Sandbot, the regular cleaner of the Sandbox, is working again, and has been for some time. Essjaybot was only filling in for Sandbot, so now that Sandbot is working, Essjaybot isn't necessary, nor is Werdna Sandbox Bot, once the manual reset link in the sandbox header is set back to that for Sandbot. Thanks. Timrem 02:00, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Werdna sandbox bot has been disabled. — Werdna talk criticism 03:21, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit summary says "Automated archival of 1 sections to User talk:Omegatron/Archive/October, 2006", but you should really be saying "Automated archival of 1 sections to User talk:Omegatron/Archive/October, 2006" — Omegatron 01:23, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This has been implemented. Thanks for the feedback. — Werdna talk criticism 03:23, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
