John Patrick Lowrie (born June 28, 1952 in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American voice actor, actor, musician and author best known for voicing the Sniper in Team Fortress 2 and various characters in Dota 2.
He has played Sherlock Holmes on the radio dramas The Classic Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Imagination Theater, Jim French Productions) longer than any other actor in history, including Basil Rathbone.[citation needed]

Lowrie is mostly recognized for his voice acting in Valve games such asTeam Fortress 2, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Left 4 Dead and Dota 2.[1]

Personal life
His adolescence was spent in Boulder, Colorado where he attended various high schools briefly before joining the United States Navy. He has been married to Ellen McLain since 1986.[3] McLain also works as a voice actress, and has starred alongside him in Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and Dota 2.[4]
