Misto Treska

@Resnjari:, @Ktrimi991: and @95.107.235.175::

The IP has been adamant that the judge in this case was Irakli Bozo and that they sentenced Nosi to death (see my brief discussion with them on that talk page). The current source in the article states:

  • The General Prosecutor, Misto Treska, ordered [Anton Harapi and Lef Nosi's] execution and the confiscation of their property [1]

IP, if you have a different source that states otherwise, please could you provide details? The current source is very clear that a) Misto Treska was the general prosecutor and that b) he ordered Nosi's execution, so in order to justify any change to the article, we need to know what source you're using. Further changes without a source will be reverted because they go contrary to the only information we have at the moment.

On a different note, I'm still dubious that the wikilink in this article goes to the correct Misto Treska, since I couldn't find anything on the Wikipedia page or during a google search to indicate whether this was or wasn't the same person, but I don't read Albanian so I know I'll be missing things. Does anyone have any indication that the author and translator Misto Treska is the same as the prosecutor referred to here?

Thanks, Marianna251TALK 21:14, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Marianna251: the biography article is of the same person. An additional note: In Albanian wiki a whole host of IP and other accounts have been vandalising the page and threatening legal action (apparently they are related to Treska or knew him). The legal threat was just that, a threat and toothless. Post 1992, families who were part of the communist regime have been a little miffed about academics digging around and investigative reporting by journalists on their family members. Treska was a man of culture and also part of the communist regime and involved in certain controversial events. As Alb wiki is under resourced with volunteers the IP has gotten away with things. In English wiki its just going to be sanctions, as editors on Alb wiki had to deal with this stuff. Its a sorry sight that now is here. So yeah its one of those articles.....Resnjari (talk) 21:24, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for opening this discussion Marianna251. Misto Treska's article on the Albanian Wikipedia confirms what Person says. Treska was involved in the political persecutions of those people that the Communist regime regarded as enemies [2]. The article on the Albanian Wikipedia has also other sources that elaborate on the issue at hand. The person who edits with this IP and some other IPs and registred accounts has declared himself to be a relative of Misto Treska on the Albanian Wikipedia, and per this and other reasons they are being discussed to be banned there. Thanks to you both for the background - that makes it a lot clearer! I'm satisfied that this is pure disruption now, so I'll keep this article on my watchlist and revert any further disruption. Marianna251TALK 21:34, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copied from the IP's talk page here, since this discussion really should be on the article's talk page (my mistake for beginning it elsewhere, apologies).

Hi @Marianna251
Source as used in albanian wiki: http://www.observatorikujteses.al/persekutimi-dhe-ekzekutimi-i-lef-nosit-nga-diktatura-komuniste-nga-edmond-malaj/
Text: “Pra më 1 shkurt 1946, një trup gjykues prestarë të të cilit ishin Irakli Bozo, Tonin Jakova dhe Gjon Banushi, në praninë e prokurorit Misto Treska, hapë gjyqin në kinemanë Kosova në Tiranë” google translate: “So on February 1, 1946, a panel of judges was Irakli Bozo, Tonin Jakova and Gjon Banushi, in the presence of Prosecutor Misto Treska, opened the trial at the cinema Kosova in Tirana”.
These are the official documents. Prosecutors do have their responsibilities, but judges decide. I think @Ktrimi & @Resnjari should write all the names correctly. I don’t know why they keep pushing the same POV as in SQwiki, trying to denigrate Ambassador Misto Treska.

@95.107.235.175: I've read the whole article using google translate (which isn't perfect, but I got the gist) and it seems that you both do and don't have a point. Yes, this source states that Irakli Bozo was the chairman of the panel of judges in Nosi's trial, and it contradicts the other source by indicating that the court as a whole issued the death sentence, rather than Treska specifically. However, it is also very clear that Misto Treska was the prosecutor. It is not denigration to state a fact, nor is Treska being the prosecutor "fake news" as you have previously claimed. I think there's grounds for including this source - but there's no grounds for denying that Treska was involved. I'll make an edit to the article to that effect, citing this source.
