::Thank you I appreciate the answer. Revision as of 21:29, 18 December 2018

If you are here with questions about an article I have deleted or a copyright concern, please consider first reading my personal policies with regards to deletion and copyright, as these may provide your answer.

While you can email me to reach me in my volunteer capacity, I don't recommend it. I very seldom check that email account. If you do email me, please leave a note here telling me so or I may never see it. I hardly ever check that account.

To leave a message for me, press the "new section" or "+" tab at the top of the page, or simply click here. Remember to sign your message with ~~~~. I will respond to all civil messages.

I attempt to keep conversations in one location, as I find it easier to follow them that way when they are archived. If you open a new conversation here, I will respond to you here. Please watchlist this page or check back for my reply; I will leave you a "talkback" notice if you request one and will generally try to trigger your automatic notification even if you don't. (I sometimes fail to be consistent there; please excuse me if I overlook it.) If I have already left a message at your talk page, unless I've requested follow-up here or it is a standard template message, I am watching it, but I would nevertheless appreciate it you could trigger my automatic notification. {{Ping}} works well for that. If you leave your reply here, I may respond at your talk page if it seems better for context. If you aren't sure if I'm watching your page, feel free to approach me here.

Reaching me

During my current work interim position, I have found myself with not a lot of spare time that isn't consumed by family. I can go long periods without logging in to Wikipedia. If you have an urgent note for me here, please consider alerting me via email at mdennis@wikimedia.org. (This is my work email address, and I do not mix work and volunteering, but mailing that address makes sure I will see it promptly, usually within a day.) If not urgent, I'll come by as soon as I can, and I heartily welcome talk page stalkers. :) Oh, I have discovered that sometimes when people don't tell me it's a volunteer contact, I have handled it with the wrong hat on. Please make which "me" you want clear!

Hello

Thank you for your availability! I am new to Wikipedia and wrote an article about myself, since I am an up and coming artist, it was declined and speedily deleted. I read that it is possible to retrieve the text and for it to be put on my user page. Would that be possible?

Thank you for your time!

Regards, Lyubena Fox

Just for the fun

Hi! I said I missed you in T&S and then Fox told me you're still here. :D Would love to catch up with you. How are you? Trijnsteltalk 00:09, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Correction: you're even still on the WMF... Apologies. But I still like to hear something from you. Trijnsteltalk 00:10, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Trijnstel! So good to hear from you. :D I'm still around - not volunteering quite as much as I want, but hoping that I'll be able to soon! I'm well. How are you? :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 01:02, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nice to hear you're okay. :) I'm fine as well; busy as always with work (&Wikipedia ofc). But I love it, so I won't easily quit with it. Let's stay in touch! Trijnsteltalk 13:36, 8 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Asian Highway AH48

Hi
I wanted to create Asian Highway related article titled AH48 where I learned that an article by same title has been deleted. What I want to create is something on lines of AH42 and AH44. I do not know what were the contents of deleted article AH48. If there are no issues with similar articles mentioned above, I will go ahead and create the article. Please advise. Thanks

Hello, Jazze7. The problem with that article was not with the topic, but with the content, which was copy-pasted from other sources. If you create an article that does not misuse other people's content and is otherwise within policy, it should be fine. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:15, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Moonriddengirl. Clarification is well appreciated. Best wishes. - Jazze7 (talk) 13:27, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Arab diaspora - copyrighted material restored again after redaction

Hi Moonriddengirl, thanks for your work on fixing the copyright problem in the Arab diaspora article on October 20th. Unfortunately, someone has obtained the now-redacted material, and restored it again with this edit: Special:Diff/870692029/871005673. I've just restored the article to the last version before that. Could you maybe take a look, and redact the intervening edits? Thanks... --IamNotU (talk) 21:24, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, IamNotU, for your continued diligence there. :) I have rev-deleted and also tagged the IP, which is certainly being used for block evasion by the same user. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:51, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks for doing that! --IamNotU (talk) 21:57, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can I ask a quick copyright question; if text in an article is a very close paraphrase of the source cited, would that be considered a potential copyvio? I've always taken the view I should write original prose with the source as supporting information. WCMemail 16:12, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, User:Wee Curry Monster. Yes, if content is very closely paraphrased to a copryight protected source, it would be considered a potential copyvio. Thank you I appreciate the answer. This is the source mentioned [1] page 15, the text in the Gibraltar article was The occupation of the town by Alliance forces caused the exodus of the population to the surrounding area of the Campo de Gibraltar. I have an editor restoring this, claiming that the text is not a close paraphrase of the source. Could I ask for your second opinion. WCMemail 12:18, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Moonriddengirl. If you have a moment, it would be great if you could give us some guidance in this specific case.
