Dolemite Is My Name is an upcoming American biographical-comedy directed by Craig Brewer from a screenplay by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. The film will star Eddie Murphy as Rudy Ray Moore, the comedian best known for raunchy, X-rated comedy routines, often in rhyme. Moore's best known creation was the character of Dolemite, who appeared in his stand-up routine as well as a series of blaxploitation films in the 1970s.

On June 7, 2018, it was announced that Craig Brewer would direct Dolemite Is My Name from a script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski with Netflix producing and distributing. Eddie Murphy was set to star as Moore.^[1]^[2] Later that month, the rest of the principal cast was announced.^[3]^[4]^[5]^[6] In July 2018, Chris Rock and Ron Cephas Jones joined the cast.^[7]^[8] Principal photography began on June 12, 2018.^[9]
