Lachlan Watson (born 2001) is an American actor. At the time of their 2018 debut in the Netflix original series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Watson was one of the youngest non-binary actors in Hollywood.

Early life

Lachlan Watson was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina.[1] They received their high school diploma through a homeschooling program in 2018.[1]

Career

Watson began acting as a child at the Burning Coal Theatre, where their mother worked.[2] They became active in the Triangle theatre scene and landed small roles on the television shows Nashville and Drop Dead Diva. In 2015 they performed in the Raleigh Little Theatre's production of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.[1]

In 2016 Watson landed a role in the Netflix original series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina after a nationwide casting call where they sent in a taped audition.[1] Watson plays the role of gender non-binary character Theo Putnam (previously "Susie").[3][2][4] Watson stated that they used their own personal experience to shape the character and to influence the way the character's story line is written in order to resonate with genderqueer viewers.[5][2][6][7] At the time of their debut in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Watson was one of the youngest self-identified non-binary actors in Hollywood.[8] In the second half of the first season, Watson's character comes out as a transgender man and changes his name from Susie to Theo.[9][10]

Personal life

Watson identifies as genderqueer and pansexual and uses they/them pronouns.[2][1][11] They are a feminist.[12]

In November 2018 Watson was featured on a Netflix-produced talk segment titled What I Wish You Knew: About Being Nonbinary, where they discussed gender identity with Jacob Tobia, Liv Hewson, and Shiva Raichandani.[11][13]
