File copyright problem with File:ICT building U of C.png
Thank you for uploading :File:ICT building U of C.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in [ your upload log].

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.<!-- Template:Di-no license-notice --> Eeekster (talk) 23:25, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Taylor Digital Library.jpg
Thanks for uploading :File:Taylor Digital Library.jpg, which you've sourced to University of Calgary. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
* make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
* Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as non-free fair use in or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in [ your upload log]. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. ==External Links==
You keep reverting my removal of external links in University of Calgary you were asked to look at WP:External Links particularly the first section Wikipedia articles may include links to web pages outside Wikipedia ( external links ), but they should not normally be used in the body of an article yet you still added the links back in. Any particular reason ? MilborneOne (talk) 22:20, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Well ive seen them being used in over 100+ other articles. Also, I don't see why not? They can provide the reader with a direct link to more information if they find that specific topic interesting.

:Please sign your posts, I dont see why not is not a valid explanation external links should be in an external links section not in the body of the article as per the guideline. Please read the guideline. MilborneOne (talk) 22:26, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

:If that is true then you have alot of work to do I guess, with thousands of articles doing this. I also think it is better for this article if the external links are kept within the body and not in the separate section as it would make it more homogeneous. Maybe we need to change some of the guidelines eh? Shahroze

Proposed deletion of Pearl Continental Tower
The article Pearl Continental Tower has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
:Subject fails general notability guidelines, lacks meaningful coverage from reliable publications.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 00:26, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of :File:University of Calgary Logo Final.jpg
A tag has been placed on :File:University of Calgary Logo Final.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. <!-- Template:Db-imgcopyvio-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> Jon Kolbert (talk) 08:00, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on :TEC Edmonton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.tecedmonton.com/tec-edmonton-to-partner-with-merck-canada-inc-on-health-startup-incubator/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. I am absolutely astonished at this level of harassment. I am trying to contribute to the growth of Wikipedia and you are threatning me with a ban? Ridiculous. I have already discussed the article and its potential COI with the other editor. If you read the talk page, you'll see that as long as we've established my relationship with the company and that there is no copyright infringement there should not be an issue. I am editing the article to add citations and remove any potential copyright infringements. I dont understand why you are getting so worked up about this?

Speedy deletion nomination of TEC Edmonton

Hello Shahroze,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged TEC Edmonton for deletion in response to your request.

If you didn't intend to make such a request and don't want the article to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

SamHolt6 (talk) 00:42, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am starting to question your comprehension. I HAD contested the deletion, and me and a previous editor had reached consensus on how to deal with the outstanding conflict of interest issue (please refer to the talk page). Instead of engaging in meaningful dialogue, you instead decided to threaten me with a ban. I can see your actions are not being undertaken in good faith. I decided to save myself the headache of arguing with such an uncooperative individual.

A tag has been placed on File:Enterprise Square in downtown Edmonton.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. No need to warn me, I want you guys to delete it. The level of harassment and threats I've received from the editors is unreal and frankly shocking. Please just get rid of it and spare me the headache.

Disambiguation link notification for April 26

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited University of Calgary, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peter Wong (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:11, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WP:BOOST interpretation

Can you please discuss on respective UK university talk pages before removing such lead content? In most cases this is a consensus reached by a number of users. If you look back through the talk pages you will find these discussions. Aloneinthewild (talk) 21:27, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Several editors and I have been removing information violating WP:BOOST for dozens of University articles. I think the onus should be on you to build a case for why you support such information being displayed within the opening of an article. I'd like to draw your attention to the opening paragraphs of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Toronto for comparison.
Shahroze (talk) 21:31, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The onus should be editors to reach a consensus. If you would like to start a discussion at WP:UNI that would be appreciated. Bear in mind WP:BOOST is not a policy, see the top header. "This page is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines" Aloneinthewild (talk) 21:39, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Leventio Want to help me out here?
@Aloneinthewild: Not sure what the edits in question are, but with regards to WP:BOOST, it is not one of the policies or guidelines listed in Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines (those policies and guidelines generally have a much wider scope, whereas this is clearly limited). However, in saying that, WP:BOOST is a guideline that is in itself, crafted by the participants of WP:UNI (which is why the WikiProject's laid out "article guidelines," extensively reference it). Its not a site-wide policy, but this is a collaborative project built on consensus. And the related project has developed a general guideline to how it believes post-secondary articles should be laid out. If you have a problem with the article layout (and its associated guidelines) WP:UNI has laid out, I'd suggest you bring it up with the WikiProject's talk page.
Also to Shahroze, you need to use Username to notify me (honestly just stubled on this random, I wasn't notified of a message). Leventio (talk) 00:19, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
