Temple Newsam is an electoral ward of Leeds City Council in east Leeds, West Yorkshire, covering the outer city suburbs of Colton, Halton, Halton Moor and Whitkirk. Austhorpe is also shared with Cross Gates and Whinmoor ward, whilst the current civil parish boundaries of Austhorpe see its eastern half lie in the western tip of Garforth and Swillington ward.

The ward population at the 2011 Census was 21,543 and ward itself is named after the Temple Newsam estate.[5]

Notes

  1. ^ Hyde had previously served as a councillor for Halton ward between 1973 and 1995 and again from 2000.
  2. ^ Schofield previously served as a Garforth and Swillington ward councillor between 1982 and his election for Halton ward in 1986. Losing his seat in 1990, he served Halton again from 1992 to 1996, when he lost his seat for a second time. He won again in 2003 and served the one-year term available until the all-out election in 2004.
  3. ^ Lyons, previously a councillor for Richmond Hill ward from 1980, was awarded an OBE in the 2003 Birthday Honours.[7][8]
  4. ^ The by-election was called following incumbent Langdale's resignation in February 2009.
  5. ^ Cummins was previously a Bradford City Councillor for Royds ward from 2004 to 2007.
  6. ^ Cummins was elected as Member of Parliament for Bradford South on the same day as the 2015 council election. She retired from council at the 2016 council election.
  7. ^ Cross Gates and Whinmoor ward councillor Coupar replaced Judith Cummins. She had previously represented Morley South ward from 2003 to 2004, Middleton Park ward between 2006 and 2010 and Cross Gates and Whinmoor since 2013.
