Anu Aggarwal (born 11 January 1969), MSW Masters in Social Work, is a former Indian model and actress. She is best known for her works in Aashiqui, The Cloud Door, Khal-Naaikaa (got her a Filmfare Awards nomination) and Thiruda Thiruda.[2] She is also a celebrated international author with her book "Anusual: Memoir of a Girl Who Came Back from the Dead" released in New York by Publisher HarperCollinsNY in the year 2015.[3]
Anu today = Creative Writer, Yogi, Director, Speaker, Change-maker, Influencer.[4] She is a naturopathic doctor, ND, who gets invited to and give presentations/talks in health conferences worldwide. [5]
Early life and background
Aggarwal was born on 11 January 1969 in New Delhi. She was a gold medalist in sociology at Delhi University.[6] After a brief stint in modelling, and VJing, and appearance in the Doordarshan serial Isi Bahane (1988), she made her Bollywood debut with the musical blockbuster Aashiqui, following which she was much in demand.[6]
After a serious car accident in 1999, Aggarwal was in a coma for 29 days, which left her with no memory of her earlier life.[7] She practices yoga . She is also an amateur power-lifter and after her accident has competed in many power-lifting competitions. She quoted in one of her interviews "To feel strong, to walk amongst humans with a tremendous feeling of confidence and superiority is not at all wrong. The sense of superiority in bodily strength is borne out by the long history of mankind paying homage in folklore, song and poetry to strong women".[6]

Social Activism
Aggarwal has been working tirelessly in uplifting the socially handicapped, the underprivileged, and the downtrodden children and adults[10]. Anu Aggarwal Foundation (AAF) supports a number of causes that she dedicatedly works towards. She actively works with girls between the ages of 5-14 affected by HIV/AIDS in helping build their confidence[11]. Aggarwal also advocates positive mental health.
Through her foundation (AAF), she has worked toward rehabilitating destitute women in Mumbai. Aggarwal also participates in events for the benefit of orphaned children and young girls. She undertakes the task of rehabilitating cases of PTSD in the slums of Mumbai. [12]

TEDx Talks
With her positive outlook toward living life connected to one’s spirituality, Anu Aggarwal has appeared 4 times in TEDx talks to share her life story and how it has helped her through a difficult time in her life.[15]
Appearing first in a TEDx talk held in the start of the year 2016, she spoke about how her surgeries affected her deeply and how Yoga managed to bring her out of that stupor and more in tune with the cosmic realm.[16]
She later appeared in another TEDx talk later in the year where she spoke about the beginning of Yoga and her endeavour to bring an awareness of the joy it can bring in the lives of people.[17]
