Through the later 1980’s, KPKY was branded as “95 Alive” with a Top 40 format. By 1991, the station rebranded as “Y95” and then changed to “Oldies 94.9” by 1993. By the late 1990s, the station has rebranded as “Kool 94.9” with a Classic Hits format. In the earlier 2000’s, the station became Classic Rock.
