Tawna (タウナ, Tauna) is a character in the Crash Bandicoot series.

Overview

According to Naughty Dog, the original idea for Tawna was "Pamela Anderson with a brain."[1]

She was formely Crash Bandicoot's girlfriend and the damsel in distress in the first installment. While the player's main objective is to rescue Tawna from Cortex, Tawna also appears in the end of certain bonus rounds which are only accessible after the player collects three "Tawna" icons. She has been omitted from further installments because of her exaggerated sex appeal (which was already toned down considerably from her original concept design) for what is supposed to be a family series. Naughty Dog replaced her with Crash's sister Coco in the second game and has appeared in every Crash game since as the series' heroine. Tawna was written off from the series for awhile, as having dumped Crash for Pinstripe.

Tawna returned as a playable character in the Nintendo DS game Crash Boom Bang. She still remains in a relationship with Pinstripe, as stated in the characters selection screen.
