In February 2011, Jeffrey Schnapp founded metaLAB (at) Harvard under the aegis of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society. metaLAB has established a leading position in the field of experimental arts and humanities. Its personnel has evolved over the years and it currently defines itself as an "idea foundry, knowledge-design lab, and production studio experimenting in the networked arts and humanities."[1] Founder and faculty director of the lab is Jeffrey Schnapp. Matthew Battles, Sarah Newman, Jessica Yurkofsky, and Kim Albrecht are the principals of the research group.[2]
