Warning misdirection

Sorry to bother, but is there some latest greatest template around, that lets people know the person who was at a shared IP address is now gone so any messages you send will be seen and misunderstood by the first random employee to check a pages history or hit the edit button. Yes this page already has the {{Shared IP corp}}, but given banner blindness I was thinking more of something for an editnotice or that leaves a warning for semi-automated tools. I mean it wouldn't surprise me if something like that has been developed, but it wouldn't surprise if it hadn't either. Cheers, 2A03:F80:32:194:71:227:81:1 (talk) 00:19, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- You may be an example of this. The fact that IP addresses, whether IPV4 or IPV6 are frequently re-assigned is a fact of life, so writing anything on IP address talk pages is probably useless. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 00:51, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Jmcgnh: I take it then that there is no template of the type I have described? 2A03:F80:32:194:71:227:81:1 (talk) 00:53, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Perhaps, in future, you could create an account? Editors and testers are always welcome. --TheSandDoctor Talk 01:17, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- @TheSandDoctor: see WP:WNCAA, and User:69.145.123.171/registering. I've been doing this on-and-off for so long it would feel like a betrayal anyway.
- I guess there's nothing to be done about the talk page then, just have to cross my fingers. Even on the continent the English Wikipedia is consulted more than you might think. Oh well, confusing messages probably arrive on shared IPs all the time anyway, maybe we'll get lucky and a stray message will convince someone new to get involved. Unblocked
Given that the test appears to have been completed per Special:Diff/1015999847, I have unblocked this IP address so as to minimize any potential collateral. --TheSandDoctor Talk 01:19, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
