Definition of the word "wikitext"

What actually does "wikitext" refer to?

I think it only means "the kind of markup that MW uses", but it seems in this article it is used to represent "all kinds of markup used by wiki software"

Edit request : Developers

Not one developer is being mentioned, although they are as important as Beethoven, Lennon & McCartney or Lady Gaga in music, and Sanger for the front-end content of Wikipedia. As for the Wikipedia WikiWiki clone that is Clifford Adams, see web.archive.org, wikipedia.com userpage Clifford Adams and for the later software for Wikipedia as of January 25, 2002, that is Magnus Manske, see web.archive.org, meatballwiki.org, MediaWiki. Also Erik Moeller was involved, director of Wikimedia Foundation and initiator of Wikimedia Commons. 2001:16B8:1163:7001:958:BB65:94F1:DEDE (talk) 17:47, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
