Le Collège français is a French-language high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Conseil scolaire de district du Centre-Sud-Ouest or CSDCSO. It was founded in 1979 within Monarch Park High School as the first French language "module" at the secondary level in Toronto. In 1981 it moved to Jarvis Collegiate Institute. It became a separate entity in 1989, and adopted the name Le Collège français à Jarvis in 1992. In September of 1997, the school moved into its present building on Carlton St. at Jarvis Street, and became Le Collège français. The school is the only French language school in Toronto to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme.

"Video Of Legends"

The school is also home to the infamous "Crew": Adam, Ashten, Yannick, Phil, Matt and Nick. Who are currently making a "Video Of Legends" DVD based on the "best of the best" moments during their high school times. The video has been branded to be the funniest home made video by high school students of all time, and will be on sale to selected v.i.p's in May of 2007.

"The Berton"

Thomas M. Berton, a local legend, has been attending Collège since late 2001 and is now in his final year. He has become famous for his puffy red hair, lanky figure and overall sexiness. These three things can be described with the word "Bertonesque". He is also the grandson of Canadian writer and critic Pierre Berton and violinist Eugene Kash. He is the nephew of actress Linda Kash, best known as Canada's beloved Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese Angel.

"The legend of Icha"

Icha Allen Mundundu, another local legend, is a former student at le Collège Français and is now at Central Tech. Icha is know for his "special" voice and his particular conduct. Icha's name has become a symbol to everyone, even those who have never met him. His name is thus written throughout the school property (multiple times). Icha is an aspiring mechanic, and a pretty bad basket-ball player. His legend will perpetuate through time... long live the legend!

Summary

Le Collège francais is a French High School located near the intersection of Carlton St. and Jarvis St. in Downtown Toronto, near the TTC's College subway station. It is part of CSDCSO. The student body is composed of about 400 students. About half of that consists of only 7th and 8th Graders. The school offers the IB program. It is the only French high school that offers this Diploma. It has graduation percentile of about 96% of 400 students (6:25 ratio). The school attracts students from all regions of the world, especially countries in the Francophonie. It has a very pleasant atmosphere. The students get to know each other very well throughout all grades because of the small classes and overall population of the school.

The school is also known for having credible and experienced teachers. Mme. Jacqueline Jean-Baptiste has been teaching at the school since the early 90's along with M. Daniel Legault, M. Bruce Bartlett and M. Hossam El-Kalza when the school was called "Le College Francais à Jarvis" .
