How many millions of people benefit from Wikipedia every day,
How marvelous it is that people all over the world have collaborated to create this unique resource,
How important sharing knowledge is,
How people working together over time can do amazing things.

What to do next

Tips for feedback

Tell us what you liked about it, where we could improve, and what you learned

How you can help
  • Play the game all the way through. Do you get stuck anywhere? Is anything unclear?
  • Finish the game if you only played a few missions: Give some attention to missions 5-7 (which have been tested much less)
  • Start over fresh with a new account: Like User:OcaasiTWA17 (these are legitimate alternate testing accounts and are not considered sockpuppets)
  • Try a different browser: If you used Safari, try Firefox (or Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera...)
  • Show the game to a friend or family member to see how they like it and if they get stuck anywhere
In your feedback, please include any of your thoughts on
  • text instructions within the game
  • graphic placement
  • bugs in the tour mechanics
  • your web browser
  • your screen resolution
  • which step of the tour you were on if something didn't work (see the step= in the url)
  • what you liked
  • what you didn't like
  • what you think would work better
  • your thoughts on the design: the theme, the guide, the characters, the colors, the images, the sounds
known bugs
  • Lingering Dialog Boxes: If you leave the tour without finishing, the guider dialog boxes will follow you until you [x] out of them (this is a Guided Tours issue generally and there's no easy fix) Example (phab:T122891)
  • Vector Only: If you're using monobook or modern etc., the layout won't work. Almost all new editors will be using Vector, so this is a known, acceptable trade-off (phab:T122891)
  • Mobile and Tablet Formatting Fails: While tested for most modern desktop and laptop browsers, the game is not configured to work properly on tablets and other smaller devices. It may, but we'd be getting lucky. (phab:T122892)
  • Doesn't scale to my preference of window size or scale symmetrically (ctrl 0/-/+). FF 25. (@start) (T122893)
  • There's no way to jump ahead if you are repeating steps or trying to get back to where you left off mid-mission. (phab:T122895)
  • The guided tour for edit summary dialog sometimes appears in weird places or isn't clickable for the VisualEditor version of the adventure (T368226)
  • "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" overlapping on some background pages Wikipedia:TWA/Background/3 (T365219)

My feedback

After the Wikipedia adventure

I found a few problems.

  • it is not detecting when the user opens the source editor
  • sometimes, I'd like to few the tips screen while editing a page, but I end up having to close it because it's in the way. That is a bit disorienting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Digi-ark (talkcontribs) 13:01, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • The source editor is not detecting when I complete a excercise --Mashedpotatoes52

Ideas

Feedback

What I liked

It's simple to follow.

What I didn't like

It might have been too simple in some parts.

What I wanted more of

More information about basic policies and maybe more information about formatting citations for newcomers. At the very least, something more to point us in the right direction to learn more.

What was unnecessary

Nothing, really.

Feedback

What I liked

Broke everything into nicely-sized pieces, so that users weren't presented with a wall of instructive text. I also like how tactfully this approached topics like vandalism, emotion and bias. It's easy for discussion on those topics to get derailed. Overall I found it very effective and hit just the right tone.

What I didn't like

...

What I wanted more of

During image editing, users should be told about alt tags and ideally provided alt text to insert. To support web accessibility, the habit should be started early to always include an alt tag with every image added to the web, unless the image is ornamental.

Thanks for assembling this tutorial!

What I liked

Great introduction for newbies. I enjoyed the gamification. Mix of tasks and multiple choice questions...

What I didn't like

I couldn't complete one of the tasks, I think it was removing a tag in Mission 6, I got stuck in a loop and couldn't progress...

Any other thoughts you want to share

Thanks for the introduction to Wikipedia, it was great fun! Very informative!

Feedback

What I liked

User interface is well designed and the journey was quite insightful.

What I didn't like

The processing was slow in the mission regarding section headings.

What I wanted more of

Every mission should be accomplished before moving to the next one.

What was unnecessary

I can't point out anything.

Feedback

What I liked

It's a really useful training game for new Wikipedians.

What I didn't like

In Mission 2 or 3, I made a mistake and closed the entire browser.

What I wanted more of

Learning Babel boxes (I learned that in Commons.)

What was unnecessary

Nothing really...

Any other thoughts you want to share

It's really useful!

Feedback

What I liked

This was a good refresher, even for intermediate editors, loved the interface.

What I didn't like

Unfortunately, hitting the "back" button creates something of a mess (see User talk:EpicPupper/TWA, I would love for a note to be added warning of hitting the "back" button.

What I wanted more of

None!

What was unnecessary

None!

Any other thoughts you want to share

Thanks for making this! I might lurk around TWA and try to contribute a bit more in the future. --EpicPupper 21:09, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 16 April 2021

The page Wikipedia:TWA/2/Gaia (whose talkpage redirects here) has a Lint error because it contains an unbalanced bold tag. It is in line number 5 where there is an invalid ''' after </nowiki>. The ''' should be removed. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ (talk) 09:36, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Done hihi, this will probably be a bit confusing for anyone else coming to this page from TWA Elli (talk | contribs) 12:22, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback

What I liked

Everything! This was so much fun and a great, interesting introduction to wikipedia.

What I didn't like

If you hit the back button, there is no way to return to your previous position without doing the activities again...maybe a warning can be added about this?

What I wanted more of

More information about actually finding and sourcing references.

What was unnecessary

Nothing; everything was great.

Any other thoughts you want to share

Really enjoyed this. Really enjoyed the characters, background design could be changed to format better but it was fine and wasn't too distracting.

Feedback

What I liked

The humor, the rewards and the little pieces of music here and there that makes one want to carry on!

What I didn't like

It pollutes the contribution history; I don't know if that's avoidable though.

Any other thoughts you want to share

It was nice overall. I didn't have many issues aside from a popups partially blocking buttons that I needed to click to progress in the game sometimes (this might be due to the fact that I use the Timeless skin). I think that the game should be more prominently featured in the website to reach the target audience (which is beginning Wikipedians I presume); in my case, I stumbled upon this game by accident.

Feedback

What I liked

I really liked the overall idea and concept of the tutorial-esque minigame.

What I didn't like

This is probably just me but, I personally wanted to have the option of skipping some of the steps. Several times it was bugged on a certain place when I realized it was because I was going too fast and skipping ahead. For example, when publishing, if you didn't click the next step, where the next step would tell you to publish it, it would not make it count as you doing it, and when clicking the 'next' you would then realize that you messed up by not clicking it first and then publishing.

What I wanted more of

Maybe more information on wiki policies/rules/guidelines? Give the user a quick rundown of important WP articles ie. WP:NPOV, WP:N, and WP:SOURCE just to name a few. (I understand NPOV was addressed but maybe add a little more information)

What was unnecessary

Nothing was "unneccesary" all of that was pretty much something an editor starting out would need.

Any other thoughts you want to share

For some reason I somehow missed this entire thing when I was first starting to edit. Would have probably used this tutorial a year ago if I found it.
