Soggy Bottom is an upcoming American drama film written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. It follows a high school student becoming an actor in the 1970s. The film stars Bradley Cooper, Cooper Hoffman, Alana Haim, Skyler Gisondo, and Benny Safdie. It is scheduled to be released on November 26, 2021.

Production
Development
On November 12, 2019, it was reported that Anderson would direct a film he wrote and produced under Ghoulardi Film Company.[3] On December 18, 2019, Focus Features came on to produce and distribute the film.[4] On July 17, 2020, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer acquired distribution rights to the film from Focus.[5]
Casting
In August 2020, Bradley Cooper, Alana Haim, and Benny Safdie joined the cast of the film.[6][7][8][9] In September 2020, it was reported that Cooper Hoffman, the son of Philip Seymour Hoffman, would play the lead role.[10]
Filming
On December 18, 2019, it was reported that principal photography would start in the spring or summer of 2020.[4] On July 17, 2020, it was reported that MGM would set a new start date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[5] Principal photography ultimately began in Encino, California in August 2020.[11] In November, it was revealed the title was Soggy Bottom.[12] On November 19, 2020, it was reported that principal photography had wrapped and post-production had begun.[2] The following year, it was confirmed that the film is set for a limited release on November 26 and a wide release in December 25.[13][14]
