Hello!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Viva communications, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because appears to be of a promotional nature.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. –Juliancolton | Talk 14:39, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry I don't know how to reply to this comment but will give it a try. I have been asked by the Ernest Cook Trust to amend information to do with Ernest Cook and the estates owned by the Ernest Cook Trust.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fairford Park, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ernestcooktrust.org.uk/estates/glos/fairford.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. [edit]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Fairford Park, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. matt (talk) 12:02, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is also clear that you are acting as (or on behalf of) a PR agency. While this is not forbidden, it is strongly discouraged as outlined in our conflict of interest guidelines. You may also be interested in our donating copyrighted materials page, which shows how to gain clearance to use copyrighted content on Wikipedia. matt (talk) 12:04, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed?

[edit]

Which articles are affected here? Is it just Fairford Park? Don't worry about the warnings above, that's just standard stuff. If you let me know what it is you're trying to do (either here or on my talk page) I'll be happy to help you to avoid any more of these kinds of problems. --Malleus Fatuorum 15:35, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Filkins

[edit]

Thankyou for your helpful expansions of the Boarstall, Filkins and Hatherop articles. You added inline citations for your additions to Boarstall and Hatherop; please will you add one for your additions to Filkins? Happy editing, Motacilla (talk) 19:44, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Username blocked

[edit]
Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia's policies. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-coiun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 14:30, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

see below

Decline reason:

Wikipedia does not allow users to edit articles about themselves, their organizations, or their clients. Creating links to your clients' websites indeed "promotion", as far as our community is concerned. --jpgordon::==( o ) 15:43, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I do not understand why I have been blocked. As mentioned in previous discussion, I have been asked by the Ernest Cook Trust to update information about it, and the estates it owns, and create links to the Trust's website and that is all I have done, or wish to do! It is nothing to do with publicity or promotional purposes but to update information.
