Peer Mohammed Hussain (born 12 April 1942) is a Kashmiri Politician and Former Minister of State of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. He was the co founder of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party along with the founder Mufti Mohammed Sayeed which was formed in 1999. He was a close aid of Former CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and won in the 2002 Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election from Shangus in District Anantnag on the mandate of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party. In the coalition government of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party and Indian National Congress when Ghulam Nabi Azad was made the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir [1] in 2005 Hussain was chosen to become Minister of State of Jammu and Kashmir. He was given the portfolios of PDD, Health, Fisheries and Higher Education. He served as Minister of State until 2008. In 2009, he contested in the 2009 Indian general election from Anantnag (Lok Sabha constituency) on the mandate of Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party [2] in which he lost to Jammu and Kashmir National Conference candidate Mirza Mehboob Beg. He was elected Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Wakf Board by CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in 2015. After the death of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed he resigned from the post and the party due to personal issues.


On 19 Dec 2018, he joined Jammu and Kashmir National Conference at the residence of Farooq Abdullah [3] leaving Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party in which he was a co founder. Currently he serving as Senior Leader of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference.
