ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:40, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Technical news

  • Unregistered editors using the mobile website are now able to receive notices to indicate they have talk page messages. The notice looks similar to what is already present on desktop, and will be displayed on when viewing any page except mainspace and when editing any page. (T284642)
  • The limit on the number of emails a user can send per day has been made global instead of per-wiki to help prevent abuse. (T293866)

block

hello, im just noticing that ive been blocked from editing wikipedia by you, for reasons i cannot properly comprehend. i only wish to make wikipedia a better place, and ive only ever made constructive edits, as can be noticed in my contribs list. it seems you've blocked me for two years; is there a good reason for this? because this is utterly disappointing. Dissoxciate (talk) 17:59, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dissoxciate! I haven't blocked your account, but your IP may have been blocked by me. Can you try turning off any VPN software you may have on your device and seeing if the error is still displayed? Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 18:02, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

yes, now that you've mentioned it, i decided to check my device and figured the vpn was, unfortunately, still on. a bit careless on my part, i admit. nevertheless, i turned it off, and thankfully, the block's gone. cheers! Dissoxciate (talk) 18:10, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tks4Fish~, I hope all is well? :) Could you please help me provide block exemptions for these group of editors. I will be glad if this could be done on before Friday as I have a workshop with the group on that day. Thanks and best regards. Kinvidia (talk) 21:56, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Kinvidia:! Absolutely, I'll do them right now. Just a couple of things: 1) can you double check "Moses Dusi"? No account was found with that name. 2) do be aware that a local exemption here at enwiki will still be needed, as there are local blocks for the IPs here, and the Global Exemption won't exempt the users from those blocks. All the best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 14:19, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again @Kinvidia:! All done apart from Moses :) Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 14:40, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much Tks4Fish Moses' user name is actually; Mosesdusi1. Apologies for the mistake. I will quickly send the names to Zzuuzz to help me with local exemptions. Kinvidia (talk) 18:28, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, @Kinvidia! Sorry for the delay. Moses is now done too :) Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 14:32, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! These blocked users are under the Igbo Wikimedians User Group. We are guiding them on how to create an account and use Wikimedia. Please can you unblock them so that they can continue with our tutorials? These users are: Bhec Khey, Sommie cee, Estheribeh97

Thank you so much Olugold (talk) 09:36, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, @Olugold! I forgot to reply back to you, but all three have been granted global IP block exemption, so they should be able to edit most projects without problems. If they want to edit the English Wikipedia, however, you'll need to request a local exemption for them too. Best, —Thanks for the fish! talkcontribs 14:33, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
