Over on Talk:Tropes_vs._Women_in_Video_Games#request_-_not_all_backlash_equals_.22harassment.22 (diff) an IP user from Melbourne (199.101.61.70) started a long discussion about Anita Sarkeesian and Gamer Gate. The main issue was the phrase "triggered a wave of sexist harassment against Sarkeesian
" which the user wanted to change to "triggered a wave of backlash, which included harrassment against Sarkeesian
". This user signed their posts as "Eric Ramus". Acroterion blocked the IP as WP:EVADE of Comet Egypt on July 20, 2016.
Today, over at Talk:Anita_Sarkeesian#Transcribed_request_from_WP:RFPP, RunnyAmiga transcluded a request from RFPP by an IP user (210.84.13.17). This request (original diff) was requesting to change the sentence The Tropes vs Women project triggered a campaign of sexist harassment against Sarkeesian
, the same sentence/topic/wording that was an issue for "Eric Ramus" mentioned above. This IP geolocates to Melbourne as well.
Given that both are from the same geolocation and are asking for a change in the same wording on related pages, this seems to be a case of socking to me. Since the original IP was blocked as EVADE of Comet Egypt, I highly suspect this IP is the same user. EvergreenFir (talk) 22:08, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
