Blanking

[edit]

Please don't blank your talk page if you have warnings on it.

Thanks -- Tyson Moore 21:37, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am not an admin, or a moderator...just a wikipedian dedicated to cleaning up vandalism :) --Tyson Moore 21:04, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's against wikipedia policy to erase warnings off a user talk page. Tyson Moore 22:03, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I feel the need to put my 2¢ in here. There actually isn't a consensus at present regarding the removal of warnings from a user's own talk page. It is strongly frowned upon, however, to remove recent warnings because it makes it look like that user is trying to hide something. It is also rather pointless because everything is and always will be visible in the page's edit history. The typically accepted etiquette is to not significantly edit the comments of other editors even on your own talk page and only to archive them verbatim when your talk page has gotten too long. —Elipongo (Talk|contribs) 02:00, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That was a bit late...but ok.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dappled Sage (talkcontribs) 01:48, 24 February 2007
Yeah, sorry! I only just stumbled across this conversation in my travels, but I couldn't let the misinformation stand. Of course, the situation could change at any moment if a consensus is reached in the matter... —Elipongo (Talk|contribs) 07:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well then so I can delete it? Dappled Sage 02:02, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You could, but it makes it look like you have something to hide. Sort of like stuffing something quickly under your coat in a store; even if it was your own umbrella to start with! Other editors will tend to react negatively to such an action. It doesn't make the warnings go away either since they are and always will be on this page's edit history. If you don't like having to look at the warnings anymore, my suggestion would be to archive them using the instructions given at How to archive a talk page. If you need any help, give me a shout over at my own talk page and I'll set you up. Have a good day! —Elipongo (Talk|contribs) 02:11, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Ill archive them thanks dude. Dappled Sage 02:14, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
