In the premise, it is stated that "After a shopping mall in Chennai is hijacked by terrorists who hold the visitors as hostages, Veera Raghavan, a spy also trapped in the mall, decides to save the hostages by eliminating them". In the end, it is stated that "to save the hostages by eliminating them". Of course, we know that Veera is going to eliminate the terrorists, but to others may seem that he would eliminate the hostages.

Here is my proposed premise statement:

After a shopping mall in Chennai is taken over by terrorists who hold the visitors as hostages, the trapped spy Veera Raghavan decides to rescue the visitors by eliminating the terrorists later veera raghavan dies by saving his lover. Justanaveragebiker (talk) 22:30, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Beast released from mixed to positive reviews with praises towards Vijay's performance, cinematography, dark humour, action sequence, music and background score while criticism was aimed at the lack of depth in the storyline and screenplay 2001:D08:D3:3A9A:6419:59B6:E9FF:8ABD (talk) 06:20, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mixed vs Negative

Mixed is when few critics praise the movie with high rating and few critics show disappointment with low rating.

When all the reviews are on 2.5 and below, how can it be called mixed?

Please enlighten. MovieBuffIndia (talk) 06:43, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What mad are you telling. It received positive reviews. 103.154.37.224 (talk) 06:50, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So far more than 10 media reputed media outlets published with 2.5 rating and I have also updated the reception section with few of them. And there are others like Mirchi9, Telugu 360,India Glitz etc who gave less than 1.75 rating out of 5. Others please let us know if these are called positive reviews or negative reviews.

Also, Beast released in 5 languages, why not considering reviews from Telugu critics and Bollywood critics article?

Praising an actor for his performance is not positive review, the overall rating of the film determines whether it is positive or negative review. As far as Beast is concerned all critics are unanimously giving negative reviews only.

Similar scenario in Annaatthe film, where it was labelled negative reviews in the first line of critical reception section itself.

A source here for Beast also titled as "negative reviews" and inside description as "film is receiving mixed to negative responses from the critics as well as the fans.https://en.janbharattimes.com/entertainment/beast-box-office-collection-day-12022-04-13 |website=JanBharat Times |language=en-US}}</ref>

Box Office Inflation.

From day 1 movie's inflation was pointed out by Box Office India.

A simple example, Times of India, Up to day 4 with ₹152 crore daily break up. https://m.timesofindia.com/entertainment/tamil/movies/news/beast-box-office-collection-day-4-vijay-starrer-earns-more-than-rs-150-crore/articleshow/90890141.cms On day 5 with ₹195 crore without any daily break up. https://m.timesofindia.com/entertainment/tamil/movies/box-office/beast-box-office-collection-day-5-vijays-pan-indian-release-inches-close-to-rs-200-crore-mark/articleshow/90904708.cms

Addition of ₹43 crore without any territory break up clearly indicates inflation.

Bollywood hungama article https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/news/box-office-special-features/beast-box-office-vijay-starrer-collects-26-million-usd-rs-198-58-cr-worldwide-box-office/ copied the figures from Deadline article https://deadline.com/2022/04/fantastic-beasts-sonic-kgf-yash-india-china-global-international-box-office-1235004648/ which themselves have mentioned as reaching out to producers for clarity. Also there is no daily break down or Overseas country breakdown. This again raises a question as none of the comscore published Overseas sources like USA, UK, Australia, Malaysia come anywhere close to $8.1 mn as per article.

Also India Herald said the numbers of Beast are fake and inflated, and they have pointed out earlier too. https://amp.indiaherald.com/Movies/Read/994495440/Vijay-Stardom-is-Completely-FAKE-Official-Global-ComScore-Report

Recently released movie Valimai figures was disputed because of no breakup and inflation. Please discuss MovieBuffIndia (talk) 10:46, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Read this article. Source from Pinkvilla clearly shows that film grossed near to ₹200 crore. Amulya Rajesh (talk) 11:33, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Indian Express article also shows ₹200 crore. Amulya Rajesh (talk) 11:42, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

200 crore Sathyalingam (talk) 12:05, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pinkvilla Jatinder Singh is non RS for Box Office. Refer ICTF, discussion. He is not used for Bollywood or Tollywood films too.

Example, As per BOI article on April 14, Beast broke valimai Day 1 record. During Valimai release, Annaatthe day 1 record was broken by Valimai stated by BOI and other reliable sources.

But Jatinder Singh on April 14 published an article with beast broke Vijay's Sarkar with than inflated figure of 38 crore.

The very next day Box Office India reported ₹38 crore is an inflated number and doesn't even come from the producers but its just fanboys or some nuisance factors. https://boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=6837

Boi has the history of 10+ years compared to Jatinder Singh who is writing just for two months in not a complete RS Pinkvilla.

During valimai itself it came into limelight that Jatinder Singh works for Vijay and purposely downplayed and now purposely inflating.

He sits in North and is not part of trade, he neither knows the Tamil language, nor the B, C centers.

Go with Box Office India, not with Pinkvilla. Because BOI is like Box Office Mojo. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:44, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can we go with Bollywood Hungama! Jomontgeorge (talk) 12:53, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jomontgeorge: Yup - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:46, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylindfotberserk: Why can't you add box office in infobox? Jomontgeorge (talk) 13:51, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jomontgeorge: Can't til the discussion is over. Also BH is considered generally reliable per WP:ICTF, but in this particular case more scrutiny is required since MovieBuffIndia has raised a valid concern regarding the similarity between BH and Deadline figures, the latter of which "reached out to producers directly for clarification". - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:02, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Box office India in today's article mentioned ₹92 cr nett from India. Normally for India nett gst average would be 13 or 14 percent. Even if we calculate maximum 15% GST (92*0.15=13.8)to make out gross value of entire 5 days in India comes to ₹105.8 crore (92+13.8). Where as other sources(BH, pinkvilla etc) are mentioning ₹135-137 crores in India. Which is an inflation of ₹30+ crore in just 5 days from domestic market.

Now TN value is also like that only. Boi - ₹65 nett (₹74 gross) Jatinder - ₹ 96 crore gross

Here also ₹22 crore difference of inflation.

https://boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=6851 MovieBuffIndia (talk) 14:42, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey for now just add the box office of the film from the source Times of India. Please don’t use any other sources. I m afraid it’s not going to be reliable. Theoder2055 (talk) 17:18, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Times of India source is the first source which came under scrutiny. There is no urgency here. Refer ICTF, Box Office India is very much reliable and gained trust over the years, unlike some media articles which publish one number today and change it next day as per their wish. MovieBuffIndia (talk) 17:32, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok fine, I think so this much content can be finalized from this film’s page and we can close the discussion. Theoder2055 (talk) 17:42, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Times of India initially said Tamil Nadu opening day as 40 crore. That time they didn't mention any nett figure. Article was first mentioning with "38 crore and 40 crore" After Boi published next day saying those numbers are inflated, toi again updated the article with Boi figure on April 14th with "Beast has reportedly gained Rs 27 crores nett, while the gross is said to be around Rs 40 crores." In this statement they are saying BOI figure of ₹27 cr nett as ₹40 cr gross which is completely wrong gross calculation. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tamil/movies/box-office/beast-box-office-collection-day-1-vijays-film-smashes-all-previous-records-despite-the-hatred-and-negative-reviews/articleshow/90835150.cms?from=mdr

In their next day report they are saying movie made only ₹65 crores gross from all over the world in the first day. Which totally contradicts 40 crore from TN on the opening day because first day outside TN and Overseas value itself is more than ₹30 crore as per other reliable sources. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tamil/movies/news/beast-box-office-collection-day-3-vijay-starrer-goes-downhill-as-k-g-f-chapter-2-continues-its-successful-run/articleshow/90873550.cms?from=mdr

Also, as cited on the initial discussion, fifth day article was published with ₹195 crore without any break up just to match up with other unreliable sources. First 4 days break up 65+32+30+25 by toi, suddenly 43 added on day 5 and they didn't show that break up on their article thinking nobody will find out this inflation.

MovieBuffIndia (talk) 18:20, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@MovieBuffIndia: Did you noticed day 5 is Sunday. So it can collect ₹43 crore on its 5th day. Jomontgeorge (talk) 06:55, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On 6th day, Beast collected only ₹15 crore thus marking total of ₹210 crore. I think the reports of Times of India is true. Jomontgeorge (talk) 06:59, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Day 5 is Sunday which everyone knows, but Day 4 is Saturday(Holiday), Day 3(Local Holiday), Day 2(Tamil New Year Holiday), Day 1(Opening day). Even if you check the trend of collections it would not have collected 43 crore. Example if you take those who inflated the collections, their trend also shown only ₹1.25 crore increase of difference from Saturday for whole of India on Sunday.

Example Jatinder Day 1 to Day 5 in India. Wednesday - Rs. 59.50 crores Thursday - Rs. 24.25 crores Friday - Rs. 18.50 crores Saturday - Rs. 16.75 crores Sunday - Rs. 18 crores https://www.pinkvilla.com/entertainment/box-office/box-office-vijay-starrer-beast-has-excellent-opening-weekend-all-time-5-day-record-tamil-nadu-1070621 If you see this movie performed less than Friday on Sunday. In India movie has collected only ₹18 crore on Day 5 and where does the remaining ₹25 crore comes from? If we go by this logic, first day itself toi reported only 65 crores worldwide gross with 40 crore from TN, Overseas if we add 25, movie has made zero rupees from outside TN in India on opening day. This is also ruled out.

Also, major thing is toi was giving daily breakup, as soon as someone on social media started spreading with 200 crore they quickly wrote an article as ₹195 crore.

Another major thing to be noticed is, there is an over all inflation of 30+ crore just from India, 20+ crore just from TN, 15+ crore in Overseas in first 5 days. MovieBuffIndia (talk) 07:34, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In a shocking update,

Bollywood hungama has now shared Beast box office outside India figures, Most of the key markets covered, they have mentioned weekend as well as Total gross. https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/movie/beast/box-office/

Leave about the $8.2m BH article copied from Deadline, now breakup from same BH doesn't even come close to $3.5 million us dollars after converting all currencies.

Individual author of Deadline also did not share country wise break up for $8.2 million mentioned for 5 days. The author at the start of Deadline article says figures are taken from local site Pinkvilla for a movie.

Also, even if we add another $1m or $1.5m or even $2 million for remaining markets which are not big ones usually, there is a difference $3 million Inflation.

This is not the first time, in past also, there were allegations of actor's ₹200 crore as fake.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/regional-movies/vijay-s-mersal-box-office-numbers-are-fake-says-a-leading-distributor-in-chennai/story-8htLH6y53fP4xxyuqy5ilN.html https://www.financialexpress.com/entertainment/mersal-box-office-collections-big-shock-vijay-starrers-figures-are-fake-this-man-makes-massive-claim/912362/

Looks like the same strategy is followed for this film to inflate numbers.

MovieBuffIndia (talk) 08:03, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Another contradicting report from toi,

According to them Day 1 to Day 4 = 152 core.

Day 1 - 65 Day 2 - 32 Day 3 - 30 Day 4 - 25

On day 5, article ₹195 crore. Without any break up.

Now, Day 6 - ₹15 crore https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tamil/movies/box-office/beast-box-office-collection-day-6-vijay-and-pooja-hegde-starrer-reaches-the-100-crores-club-in-tn-mints-rs-200-crores-worldwide/articleshow/90928250.cms?from=mdr

Day 7 - ₹25 crore(Tuesday working day- all other sources reporting way less than Day 6.) https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tamil/movies/news/beast-box-office-collection-day-7-vijays-film-on-par-with-the-total-valimai-collection/articleshow/90951965.cms

As per their own report Day 4 Saturday (₹25 crore) and now Day 7 working Tuesday also ₹25 crores.

People who are aware of movie biz will simply crack this manipulated numbers.

Clear evidence of inflation without any territory or Overseas breakdown.

Putting all my efforts in analysis to ensure readers are not mislead with the actual reality.

MovieBuffIndia (talk) 10:05, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like Times of India is unreliable . How can Beast collect 25 crores on Tuesday ( same as Saturday's numbers)? According to Box office India, beast had a big drop on Monday & Tuesday.

Review

Change review from mixed to mixed to positive because a lot of audiences were saying the movie was really good. It was said to have good comedy from the audience and good action sequences. The movie makers declared that Beast is a Blockbuster Hit. Sun Pictures also have a poster saying Blockbuster Hit. 2600:387:C:7013:0:0:0:A (talk) 03:20, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
