Hungarian official data is a bit manupulated. Only counts on the salaries of companies/organization with at least 5 employees. If considering all workers, the net salary would be about 550-600 euro per month

Hungarian data

Hi Dear Editor(s)!

Could you please correct the freshly updated, but incorrect wages in euro and the date for Hungary? According to the current exchange rate (EURHUF 367,40) the gross average monthly salary is €1223 and the net average monthly salary is €814, which apply to 2020-12.

Thank you for taking the time! :)

The Estonian gross salary in Q4 2020 is marked correctly (1515€). However, the calculation for net salary is incorrect. Instead of 1214€ it should be 1233.37€. The calculation is based on salary calculator provided by Äripäev which is the largest business newspaper in Estonia: https://www.raamatupidaja.ee/palgakalkulaator

It also means that the net average monthly salary (adjusted for living costs in PPP) should be changed accordingly. Thank you for your time. JaanusMuur (talk) 09:43, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Data for Poland is incorrect

https://www.pulshr.pl/wynagrodzenia/wzrost-pensji-polakow-zaskoczyl-nawet-ekspertow-niespotykany-wynik,80987.html

It's 5929 zł gross, so 1300 euro and 4200 zł net, so 921 euro.

Data for the Netherlands is incorrect

Source 74 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_countries_by_average_wage#cite_note-auto1-74 tells modal income is 79% of average income in the Netherlands. 79% * €36.500 / 12 months = €3.850 average income before taxes, €2.832 after taxes without any deductions. The numbers in "European and transcontinental countries by monthly average wage" should be changed.

The numbers in source 74 are correct. These are official sources provided by the Dutch government mentioning the modal/average ratio as well: - https://www.cpb.nl/sites/default/files/omnidownload/CPB-Kerngegevenstabel-juniraming-2020.pdf - https://www.cpb.nl/sites/default/files/Toelichting-op-prijzen-lonen-en-koopkracht.pdf

Hi,

I would like to update data in "Net PPP in $" for Poland. Based on "Report for Selected Countries and Subjects" [1] which is used to calculate "Net PPP in $", the ratio for Poland in 2021 is set to 1.826, that indicate that "Net PPP in $" should be equal to 2338 (4269/1.826). Please change 2,225 to 2,338 in "Net PPP in $" for Poland.

Hungarian data

Hi Dear Editor(s)!

Could you please update both gross and net salaries for Hungary? The difference is quite significant between the data you find here and the actual numbers. According to the freshest data the gross average monthly salary is HUF 428100 which is €1170 and the net average monthly salary is HUF 284700 which is equal to €778. It applies to 2021-09.

Please change the "Net PPP in $" column for Ukraine from 1,355 to 1,501. Because the PPP value wasn't recalculated after the last changes, when the net value was changed from 9,931 UAH to 11,522 UAH (or from €300 to current €363). Also the current salary in Ukraine is 14,345 UAH (you can check it here http://www.ukrstat.gov.ua/express/expr2021/08/105.pdf - State Statistics Service of Ukraine) or 11,547 UAH after tax (https://finance.ua/ru/calc/salary). The PPP coefficient for Ukraine is 7.69 [1].

Baby talk

"The salary distribution is right-skewed, therefore more than 50% of people earn less than the average gross salary."

This rather depends what you mean (excuse pun) by "average".

It's a vague term and statisticians try to avoid it in favour of specific terms - median, mode, [arithmetic/geometric/harmonic] mean. They exist for a reason. Use them.

From this site: "In statistics, mean, median, and mode are all known as measures of central tendency, and in colloquial usage any of these might be called an average value. " — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2788:1008:2C3:E2CB:4EFF:FE88:1A2D (talk) 19:59, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's why it's called average wage. This amount doesnt care if +50% earn less. If you want a more precise term, you should create a new wikipedia page called "European countries by median wage". Than 50% will have less(or equal) than the median wage, and 50% will have more. Countries are not interested in having such statistics because the amount will drop by 20-30%. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E0A:F7:BBC0:C4C7:37EB:894:D38B (talk) 08:33, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Using official OECD data for all countries instead of the actual sum of hundreds of different sources?

The actual data is based on more than a hundred different sources, while many of these are not even official. The data is very misleading. The OECD offers official data for most European countries regarding wages and it's 2019 or 2020 updated data. What if this page would have that data instead of using individual sources for each country? The OECD is an official organism, not a newspaper or a random website offering data.

This is the link, most European countries are included and all have 2000-2020 data: https://stats.oecd.org/Index.aspx?DataSetCode=AV_AN_WAGE# --Pfarla (talk) 16:16, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ISTAT data are official for Italy. Your idea is good if you set all OECD data for all countries . Do that if you find consensus.Msimoncinifideuram.it (talk) 12:50, 5 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's a bad idea, a lot of European countries, like Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Russia are not included in OECD — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.41.108.18 (talk) 23:52, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding PPP for Slovakia. Net salary published is 915 Euro (2021Q2). If we apply the PPP conversion rate to USD from the given link [2], which is 0,527 (2021Q2) we got only 1736, not 2059 as shown in the table. Could you explain the difference?

Slovak net wage is wrong and doesn't correspond to gross wage

According to Slovak Statistical office, the average gross wage in Q4 2021 war 1331 eur - as seen on https://slovak.statistics.sk/ (this is already correct). However, net wage doesn't correspond to this - according to this brutto-netto calculator https://openiazoch.zoznam.sk/kalkulacky/vypocet-cistej-mzdy, 1331 gross is 1003 net, not 935. According to this, the PPP rate is also wrong - according to my calculations, it should be around 2200. Current information creates a false image that net/PPP salaries in Slovakia are lower than in neighboring states (Hungary, Romania, Poland, Croatia) while in reality, they are more or less the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.149.229.121 (talk) 08:39, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
