Kathy Barnette is an American author and politician.[1] She is currently running for the Republican nomination in the 2022 Senate election in Pennsylvania.[2] In 2020, she ran for United States Congress in the Pennsylvania 4th Congressional District.[3]

Early life

Barnette's mother was raped at the age of 11 by a 21-year-old man. She got pregnant as a result and chose to carry it to full term. Kathy was born on September 6th, 1971 in Alabama. Her biological father is unknown.[4]

Barnette served 10 years as a Military reservist in the United States Army.[5][better source needed]

Professional career

Barnette is a political commentator, and has written for and appeared on Fox News multiple times.[6][7][8] She also worked in the financial industry for many years.[5][9]

Political career

Barnette first entered politics by running for Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district in the 2020 election. She lost the election and refused to concede.[10][11]

Barnette announced she would run to fill retiring Senator Pat Toomey's seat in April 2021.[12][2] She surged in the polls in late March 2022 and started receiving major attention from news outlets in May.[1][9][11] Barnette began to receive a lot of scrutiny over past tweets she had made, including some claiming that former President Barack Obama was a Muslim, and others that opponents called homophobic and Islamophobic.[13][14][15] On May 15th, 2022, images surfaced showing that Barnette had participated in the 2021 United States Capitol insurrection, for which she received a lot of criticism.[16][17]
