Our Lady of Jazłowiec
Appearance
Our Lady of Jazłowiec is a Roman Catholic image of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Carrara marble. The venerated image was commissioned in 1883 in Rome for the convent and Order of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and was originally enshrined in Yazlovets, Ukraine.
The venerated image was transferred to Poland in 1946 and a replica copy was enshrined in Yazlovets, Ukraine in 1992.[1] The neoclassical carving by Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski, is 170cm high on a plinth 24 centimeters wide.
- In 1883, the statue was blessed by Archbishop Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński.
- In 1919, the 14th Jazlowiec Uhlan Regiment declared the image to be their Hetman.[2]
- On 9 July 1939, Pope Pius XII granted the statue a Pontifical decree of Canonical coronation via Cardinal August Hlond who executed the rite.
- In May 1946, the statue and its religious order transferred to Szymanów, Poland.
- In 1992, a replica copy of the original was enshrined in Yazlovets, Ukraine. [3]
