Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr. is an upcoming professional boxing match contested between Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr. The bout is scheduled to take place on August 6, 2022 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.[1]

Background

Originally, Paul was scheduled to fight Tommy Fury on December 18, 2021 however, due to an injury, Fury pulled from the fight and was replaced by former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley instead.[2]

On June 10, 2022, Paul took to Twitter to announce that he and Amanda Serrano will be co-headlining at Madison Square Garden on August 6.[3]

On June 22, 2022, Paul and Fury went back and forth on Twitter with Paul claiming that Fury was pulling out of the fight once more due to his family members not being able to attend. On June 23, 2022 however, Fury responded to Paul stating "The fight is on. August 6th. Forget a team or any other bullshit. I don’t need anybody to help me lay you flat on that canvas."[4] That same day, it was announced that the two will be facing each other in a professional bout. That same day it was announced that Serrano will be facing Brenda Carabajal.[5]

Prior to the scheduled press conference on June 29, Fury was denied access to the U.S. due to issues with his visa.[6] This sparked the cancelation of the press conference. Paul took it to Twitter multiple times requesting Fury to "Go to the embassy and get your visa."[7] This sparked KSI to go after Paul on Twitter stating, "Jake Paul vs. Tyrone Woodley 3. Can't wait man" jokingly reminding Paul that Woodley had to replace Fury in December after offering Paul and Fury a spot on his upcoming event as a co-main fight.[8][9] Paul declined the offer. After no response from Fury and Paul constantly giving Fury steps on how to resolve his issue, it was announced on July 6 that Fury was no longer Paul's opponent. This marks the second time Fury has pulled out from a bout with Paul and a replacement was to be announced the next day.[10] On July 7th it was announced that Hasim Rahman Jr would be the replacement to fight Paul on August 6th.
