Hojicha Co. is a Japanese tea company launched in 2018[1][2][3] specializing in Japanese roasted green tea (hojicha) produced in Kyoto, Japan. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada the company distributes its products in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Founded by Danielle Geva and Francois Mathieu, Hojicha Co. was launched in the fall of 2018. Shortly after the brand launched, Food Navigator named Hojicha Co. one of the most popular food startup stories of 2018.[4][5]
In April 2019, the company announced[6] its plans to supply tea shops and cafes with “Hojicha Powder” to further accelerate the hojicha trend outside of Japan.
Hojicha Co. was awarded "Best Tea 2019" at the Toronto Coffee & Tea Expo in May 2019, and its "Hojicha Gold Roast" tea won the third position in green tea in blind tasting at the 2020 Toronto Tea Festival.
