The "50 Cent" name

I believe that such an uncommon name deserves a section explaining where it came from. I didn't see any explanation about that name in the article. Can anyone add that? --Fredyrod 20:09, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also a pronunciation guide.--BillFlis 16:11, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
He adopted the name "50 Cent" from a gangster of the 80s called Kelvin Martin. Kelvin Martin was known für hold-ups und shootings. Jackson has choosen this name, because, as he says, it embodies all what Kelvin was in the 80s. (translated from the german article) -- 85.176.223.145 03:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Political views

I've readded the political views section as it is a clearly verifyable ( referenced ) and pertinant. - Peripitus (Talk) 06:47, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This issue with 50 Cent and politics, I guess he voted for that Democrat Ned Lamont in the Connecticut primary. Seeing that the man lives in Farmington, Connecticut. LILVOKA 17:22, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

50 is constantly getting attacked. Its sad that he gets harassed for his un offensive views in the United States.

I agree we should put a section for Political Views as its very pertinent and relevant. I think it can be done in a NPOV way. I don't think it should remain under the section "Other controversies" as that gives it more of non-neutral point of view in my opinion. Something like below should be fine...

'The rapper is a supporter of President Bush. The rapper has defended the Bush administration's efforts to provide relief during the Katrina crisis and has been publicly critical of rapper Kanye West's unscripted suggestion during a Katrina Charity Event that President Bush is a racist. The rapper has suggested that had he not been barred from voting due to his conviction that he would have voted for President Bush in 2004. The rapper has referred to President Bush as "incredible" and "sees in him everything I am".

You can insert appropriate citations. There you go...

NOTE TO EDITORS:
Please note that vandalism of this page will not be tolerated. Vandalism includes adding personal views, rhetoric, deleting large sections of text, and inserting manifestly false information, and copyright violations. Any opinions, rumors or comments about 50 Cent should be directed to talk page. If you choose to continue to vandalize this page you could be blocked from using Wikipedia. All rumors and unconfirmed signings should be referred to the discussion (talk) page.
Do not revert any single page in whole or in part more than three times in 24 hours. If you violate the three-revert rule, after your fourth revert in 24 hours, sysops may block you for up to 24 hours. In the cases where multiple parties violate the rule, administrators should treat all sides equally.
Note: To all annoynous users. Please establish an account with Wikipedia!

There are severe problems with the first paragraph. Adding personal views, rhetoric, and copyright violations isn't vandalism. In general, most of the advice given in this comment, where it is accurate, would be better off on the talk page. Test edits and apparent vandalism are better addressed on the user's talk page or, where it becomes severe, by semi-protection for a few days.

The last note seems to be somewhat unwikipedian to me. We do not browbeat editors into registering a named account. --Tony Sidaway 23:26, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ehy does his name say 50 cent aka taha something i've heard of no such thing before only that they used to call him boo boo as ayoungster and when he hustled

Birthday

His birthday is June 11th, not July 8th. Funny thing is, the info box (on the right) says July 6, but the actual article says July 8. Someone should fix it as soon as it becomes unprotected. Why sigh, cutie pie? 01:56, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

This section needs to get condensed down considerably. I do not believe it is neccessary to extensively document the events of every feud he's been involved in. The section could probably be cut down to a quarter of its current size without losing much. EvilCouch 10:03, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is absurd that the "controversy" section does not detail the number of protests against 50 or the efforts to censor and/or ban his music, if not his actual physical presence from venues or entire countries, due to the high degree to which 50 and G-Unit depict a "gangsta" image with all attendant violent implications. Regardless of the actual merit of these events, they are a chapter in this history and are very much missing from this article as a piece of discussion. Honest popular culture discussion of 50 is not possible without noting the degree of opposition he has faced and noting that he has employed some of the strongest imagery in mainstream hip hop that we've seen since the days of the Geto Boys, after a solid period where these depictions had seemingly fallen out of favour among mainstream hip hop channels. ano3243234 23:27, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also you need to change at the summer jam concert that rapper Domination and Bang 'Em Smurf were present at the concert along with other members of there entourage. 50 cent notice this and then poured water on them which led to members of Domination and Bang 'Em Smurf to start throwing chairs onto the stage. Young Buck, 50 cent, and security began to throw the chairs back at them. This led to Bang'Em Rushing the left side of the fence and rushing backstage. G-Unit continued to perform there set with the crowd enjoying there whole set. At the end of there set he says "Do y'all want to see "Step Step,Side to Side" come out and perform or do yall want to see G-Unit tear this place down some more" the crowd laughed Where he then dropped the mic and walked off stage with the rest of g-unit. Following this most of the crowd left because R.Kelly was performing last. This is accurate information because A.) I was present at the event B.)You also can see it on the documentary BEEF 3 TSouthSideL 2:54, 1 December 2006

Endorsments and Projects

As well as Home of the Brave and The Dance, 50 will also be appearing opposite Robert De Niro in the upcoming film New Orleans.

Vote

How is the fact that he supports Bush a controversy? --Bears54 03:34, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, why is that labeled Other Controversy? It should be renamed to Trivia or something. People above are complaining about bias and there it is.--64.75.187.195 23:12, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I saw on the upcoming Live or Die that not only was Nicole Scherzinger goin to feature on the upcoming album, but they going out and possibly fiancees. I think this should be definitely added. --69.160.221.150 00:43, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Ludacrillionam'ron XPac Unit Aftermath CEO[reply]

Other Nicknames

Other nicknames include Ferrari F50 and Mr. Ferrari. Someone should add that to the beginning of the article.

In his song "Wanksta," 50 Cent says "It's 50 aka Ferrari F-50" and in the new song from Eminem, 50 Cent, Cashis, and Lloyd Banks, "You Don't Know," Eminem refers to 50 Cent as Mr. Ferrari.

It IS one of his niknames, ferarri f-50 is also mentioned in "You Don't Know" on the version with Tony Yayo commenting (yeahs and whats basically) in the background, in the end, Yayo says the names of the people in the song and doesnt say 50, but ferarri f50, he says "You know what this is... Shady (repeat),G-Unit Aftermath, Lloyd Banks, Ca$his, Marshall Mathers, Ferarri F-50, its a movement (repeat), you cant stop it! Talk of New York Tony Yayo (repeat)!"

If no one is going to make changes then I think this article should be unlocked.

Disambiguation

Curtis Jackson is also the name of a Bermudian cricketer, see Curtis Jackson (cricketer). I accept he is nowhere near as notable as 50 Cent, but I do think there should be a way of finding the cricketer by typing his name in. There are two ways to do this: turn Curtis Jackson into a disambiguation page, or put at the top Curtis Jackson redirects here. For the Bermudian cricketer, see Curtis Jackson or something of that ilk. Any preferences as to which route I go for? jguk 19:21, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ye, just put at top, see Curtis Jacson (disambiguation), but right now, so many people were vandalizing this page, that someone locked the editing tool

Other language articles

what happened to that section? I just added the link to the kurdish wiki article and I saw none of the 50 cent articles in other languages are linked to from here.. why's that and would somebody fix it? (I would but the only method I'm aware of would be to add everyone of them manually and I don't really have the time.. there must be an automatic way to do it or sth..) Can you be specific

shooting

50 Cent was shot up 3 days before the Destiny Child's music video "Thug Luv" in front of his grandmother's house in Queens, New York, but is stated that he was shot at nine times and three hit him, but his autobigrophy book from pieces to weights and other books about him say he was shot nine times instead of three. You will find the truth about this shooting in the chapter of "From Pieces to Weights": The shooter was on me emptying bullets and I had to go to the gym to get my legs back into it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xthakendyshopboi (talkcontribs) 16:51, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

50 cent was shot nine times. one bullet to each inner thigh, one to the left side of the face, then six times in the back. he got shot in the thighs first, he fell onto his stomach and was then shot six times in the back, he managed to turn over to his side, that's when he was shot in the face. he was supposed to be shot in the head, but the shooters aim was off by a long run!

Get rich or die tryin and the massacre sales

Can someone change the sales back to what they are actually meant to be, 11 million not 6mil and 5mil respectively.I2en 23:56, 15 January 2007 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by I2en (talkcontribs) 23:55, 15 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

EDITING OF GAME CONTROVERSY

THE GAME WAS NEVER SIGNED TO G-UNIT RETARDS. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Name01870 (talkcontribs) 03:27, 5 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

THE GAME WAS SIGNED TO G-UNIT RECORDS. everytime he was on the radio or whateva he would always talk about his place in g-unit, now in order to be a g-unit memeber you gotta be signed to g-unit records! game dumb ass!

lol. Well, that was short and sweet. But why delete the rest of the arguement? He might come back and say shit.--Dlae 21:01, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

when ice cube talked about bein a part of n.w.a. does that mean he was signed to them?? umm, no hes the only one who wasn't legally part of the group and thats why when he went solo eazy-e wasnt bankin off of his shit, because eazy definetly saw profits from the chronic, people can say theyre with a group and even do records with those people without being signed to them, know your hip-hop bitch...and watch stop snitchin stop lyin because u becomin a member of gay-unit,and i dont gotta delete shit i will verbally slaughter you - name01870

Wow. Just wow. See I can agree with you there(I never said you deleted stuff. PLEASE, sign your comments). Like what Ma$e was doing and Twista with Roc-a-Fella. But really, there was more I wrote. Try listening to music. --Dlae 16:28, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cam'ron beef

he now has beef with cam'ron and has released a diss video. it states that cam'ron is no longer fit to lead Dipset and that Jim Jones should take over for him,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_poeloXyDmA&eurl=

yea you should add that into the article

There is no citation needed for the Kock record comment that he made, the interview is available widely on the internet.

thats true, but there is also widespread of the video too...why not link both the video and the phone call on hot 97? - name01870

Shooting And Certification

I don't know about being shot 9 times, but at least you can tell he has been shot more than 3 times due to the fact that he has a bullet wound on his back in the candy shop video along with the one to the jaw and two legs and also in the first all eyes on me documentary by mtv he revealed the bullet wound in his hand that entered his thumb and exited his pinky as evidenced here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loGRWmeuADY

and what about about his album certification, i thought wikipedia only went by U.S. sales not worldwide if so then 50s GRODT has only gone about 6x-7x Platinum, not Diamond for his worldwide amount of 12x Platinum same thing with the massacre which went 9x Platinum worldwide and if that's so then 50 would have 2 Diamond albums since Eminem's the marshall mathers LP went 9x Platinum and was certified Diamond Black Panther7490 20:42, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This bullshit about him only getting shot and hit 3 times is just that. seriously, its pathetic an encyclopedia can't look at all the facts that go to show he was hit 9 times. LETS SEE THE HOSPITAL RECORDS.--Donnie from the mean streets of Boston, KY 19:09, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
