Brock Edward Lesnar (born July 12, 1977) is an American mixed martial artist and former amateur wrestler, best known for his professional wrestling career in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He left wrestling to pursue a career in the NFL where he played for the Minnesota Vikings. He has also competed in New Japan Pro Wrestling and is currently under contract with K-1 Hero's.

Career

Amateur Wrestling

Lesnar finished his amateur career as a four time all-American, two time big-ten Champion and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college.

World Wrestling Federation / Entertainment

In Late 2000 that year he switched from amateur wrestling to professional wrestling and joined WWE (then WWF), where he went on to win its developmental territory (Ohio Valley Wrestling) tag team championship on three occasions in 2001, with his former college rommate and assistant coach, Shelton Benjamin. As Lesnar joined the main roster in 2002, he soon earned a shot at the WWE Undisputed Championship, after winning the 2002 King of the Ring tournament. He defeated The Rock to become the youngest WWE Champion at 25. He then entered a feud with The Undertaker, whom he shockingly defeated respectively inside a Hell in a Cell, Undertaker´s supposedly own game. Lesnar continued to rise in WWE and showed much potential, becoming a 3-time WWE Champion, defeating Kurt Angle twice for the title. But as Wrestlemania was approaching in 2004, Lesnar made his notice to WWE that he was leaving to pursue a career in the NFL.[2] At Wrestlemania, Lesnar lost to Bill Goldberg in his last WWE match.

National Football League

Lesnar played for the Minnesota Vikings, where he created minor fights in some games, and received heat for sack on QB Damon Huard, which drew a big responce from a crowd of 6.000. Giving hard hits to QB's in scrimmages violates an unwritting understanding, and Huard had to go to the sidelines and sit out a few plays. Lesnar was featured on Sports Center on more than one occasion for his actions. After suffering an injury in the summer of 2004, Lesnar was soon cut from the team and made no attempts to continue his NFL career.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

In 2005, Lesnar joined New Japan Pro Wrestling and won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar went on to defend the title against Shinsuke Nakamura, Akebono and Giant Bernard, before being stripped of the title in 2006.

Mixed Martial Arts

On 12 August, 2006, Lesnar officially announced that he has joined Japan’s Mixed martial arts promotion, K-1 Hero´s, and will have his first match on May 19, 2007.[3]
