Maisie Hannah Peters (born 28 May 2000)[1] is an English singer-songwriter. After releasing three EPs, in August 2021, she released her debut studio album You Signed Up for This under Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records label.
Early life
Peters was born and grew up in Steyning, West Sussex, England. She has a twin sister, Ellen.[2] At around age eight, she performed in a choir. She also tried to play the flute but was not successful.[3] She wrote her first song at age nine[4] and began writing songs regularly at the age of 12, after borrowing her friend's guitar for a school project.[5] She attended Steyning Grammar School, where she won in a talent show in March 2015. At age 15, she busked on the streets of Brighton and began uploading original songs to YouTube.[6]
Music career
In June 2016, at age 15, Peters performed on The Ayala Show.[7] In August 2017, she independently released "Place We Were Made" and in November 2017, she released "Birthday". In 2018, she signed with Atlantic Records UK.[8]
In May 2018, she released the single "Worst of You".[9] In July 2018, she released the single, "Best I'll Ever Sing".[10]
In November 2018, she released her debut EP, Dressed Too Nice for a Jacket.[11][4][12]
In March 2019, Peters released "Stay Young", written in partnership with Romans.[12] In April 2019, she released "Favourite Ex",[13] which along with her single "Feels Like This", appeared on Love Island in June 2019.[14]
In October 2019, she released her second EP, It's Your Bed Babe, It's Your Funeral.[15]
Her song "Smile" was on the soundtrack album Birds of Prey: The Album, for the film Birds of Prey, released by Atlantic Records in February 2020.[16] Also in February 2020, Peters was announced as the opening act for concerts in Europe by Niall Horan.[17]
In May 2021, Peters completed the soundtrack for the Apple TV+ original series Trying, including the song "Funeral", which featured fellow British recording artist James Bay.[18][19]
On 15 June 2021, Peters joined Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man Records label.[20][21] In July 2021, she released "Psycho", a song co-written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac.[22] Her debut studio album, You Signed Up for This, was released on 27 August 2021.[23] The album debuted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and was the top selling album in UK independent record stores for that week.[24]
In March 2022, Peters toured the United States.[25]

In 2022, Peters and Griff joined Ed Sheeran's +–=÷x Tour as opening acts.[26]
On 6 May 2022, Peters released "Cate's Brother" and in June 2022, she released a remix of the song with Matt Maltese.[27][28]
In October 2022, Peters released "Not Another Rockstar" and announced a tour of the United Kingdom for April 2023.[29]
Artistry and influences
Peters possesses a soprano voice.[30] She cites her influences as Taylor Swift, Girls Aloud, Lily Allen, ABBA, Sara Bareilles, Ellie Goulding, Frank Ocean, John Mayer, and The Vaccines.[5]
Personal life
Peters lives in London with her cats.[3][6] She also operates an online book discussion club.[31] She supports government action to mitigate climate change.[32]
