CONSIDERING RETIREMENT
Blaze Wolf is strongly considering retirement, although nothing is set in stone...

Note: Please check the above template for what time it is in my location before sending a message as I may be asleep.

Note 2: When it is April fool's day, DO NOT TROUT ME as an April Fool's joke. In the past I had a trout button which I removed due to persistent abuse of it. If you trout me on april fool's day I will revert you and ask that you do not do it again.

Considering retirement

Hello all. I'm sure some of you will have noticed that I have placed {{considering retirement}} on my talk page. I have my reasons for this, tho it is nothing that necessarily involves me. Technically it involves everyone editing or viewing Wikipedia. Due to some circumstances regarding the higher-higher-ups (as in beyond admins) I'm not sure if I want to remain an editor on Wikipedia. If I have known you on Wikipedia for a while and you really wish to know more details then let me know here and I will send you an email with the details. I do not wish the details to be shared publicly here on Wikipedia or on the Wikipedia Discord server, or anywhere else involving Wikipedia and the WMF (excluding other Wiki's running on the mediawiki software that are otherwise not associated with the WMF). As the template says, nothing is set in stone at the moment, though it is something I am considering. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:15, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That seems a shame. As long as you have been enjoying editing here and as log as you have been abiding by the rules I see no reason for you to allow other people to control your behaviour. Since I have not seen any divergence from the rules it must be that you are not quite enjoying yourself. By all means take a wiki break. I took one for several years. It was meant to be for a few months but I had burned out and lost the fun. For me, the fun is back. I hope it returns for you, too.
I feel a sense of loss, since we have just met, but your staying because I ask would be your allowing me to control you. So stay, for as long as you want, and return when you want if you leave. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:39, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would love for other people to not control my behavior, however I don't really have a choice. If you'd like I will email you more details as said are not something I want public here on Wikipedia. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:41, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to send it I will read it. It is very rare that I respond by email. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the points you make in your email. I know others have felt those things before. What they have found is that it generally all comes good in the end.
Out of deference to you and in accordance with the rules, I may not reveal, even by my answers, any of the actual points in your email 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:19, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I may choose to reveal them in the future. But for now they remain private via email. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:20, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If I have any advice for you, it is to choose to ignore the things you emailed me about, simply because nor you nor I can affect them. If building the encyclopaedia is enough fun then the rest of whatever it is you sent me can safely be ignored. This is why I concentrate on building the encyclopaedia by reviewing by writing, be improving, by offering article for deletion, etc etc. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's not something that's easy to do considering how much it can affect me. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 23:43, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you can stay Blaze Wolf. You were the one of the first editors I interacted with at the Teahouse, and you gave me a lift when I was a struggling newbie who didn't even know how to upload an image. If you would like to talk about something, feel free to email or DM me on Discord The Night Watch ω (talk) 01:12, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Blaze Wolf! I saw the considering retirement above, and though I would understand, I hope you get to a place where you can choose to stay. You're a valuable editor on this project and you've been a big help to me, as well as others! Like I said, I would totally understand, but I sincerely hope to see you stay. I know that retirement may seem like a bad thing, Blaze Wolf, but it may mean a chance to look back at history. Speaking of, the Reverie Battles (that were archived in the Legends: Arceus wiki) were part of the Daybreak update, so I had to include them. - (12546a) 11:13, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi! Blaze Wolf, thanks for visiting the Teahouse! As an experienced editor, your knowledge is very valuable to new editors. Teahouse Hosts help new editors at the Teahouse and beyond. I actually was a host in the past, however I was very inexperienced and didn't quite have enough knowledge to correctly answer questions, so I was removed. I haven't added my name back since, well, I don't need to. I'm technically a host just by answering the questions. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:33, 2 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, OK.

Hi, i read what you said to me about the image of "The Flash" logo. I was trying to upload it correctly, but i can't. This is the link;https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=472614671737241&set=a.441896974809011 201.188.151.124 (talk) 04:19, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you ask at the Teahouse. They'll be able to help you better than I can. It's also late where I am right now so I don't have the time to help you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 04:21, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Seomaz (06:40, 3 December 2022)

Hi Blaze; I am a newbie here can you please guide me on how can i initiate here to contribute values to society or learn something new to gain knowledge? Thanks, Mentor Arslan Seomaz --Seomaz (talk) 06:40, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Seomaz: Hello Seo! That would depend on what you are wanting to do. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 12:41, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Seomaz, "contribute values to society" sounds to me like you want to share your knowledge, particularly in the moral sphere. This is contrary to the values of Wikipedia. If you wish to research a subject and add material you find in reliable sources, that is your best approach here. Being a "Mentor" to the world, not so much. If you wish to learn and gain knowledge, you should read articles, read the articles' talk pages, read the footnoted sources, read the WP:Teahouse and read the Help desk daily. Happy editing! Congratulations on your Probationary AFC reviewer appointment

I hope you enjoy it and don't get so involved that you suffer from burnout. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:06, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I probably won't suffer from burnout. I've really only gotten burnt out once and that was with a video game. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:47, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Misunderstanding

Hello. I made an edit on Matt Walsh's page, removing the left-wing bias, making it neutral. Right after, someone removed my edit without explanation. I reverted it back, and left a message on his talk page. You removed my reversion, claiming I didn't elaborate on why I reverted it back. Colejohanson12 (talk) 23:02, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question about rejection of article

Hi there, I got your rejection of my submission (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Realm-protector/sandbox) I do get your point that this seems to hard to maintain as the list will (slowly) grow larger over time.

Reason I am adding this is that old line ups of this sportsteam are hard to find - media articles online seem to disappear over time.

As the umbrella sports organisation of this national team provides line ups from 2018 on - would it be okay to publish this as a closed list for the time bracket 2003-2017. (and refer to the line ups from 2018 onward to the website of the sport organisation).

There is no list like this available anywhere online - it would be great to have this available as a record of historical information about this sportsteam. Maintenacne won't be an issue as the list is closed.

Thank you! Realm-protector (talk) 23:13, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest a specific time period like 2003 - 2010. I recommend asking the relevant Wikiproject what they think would be good. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:27, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 6

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Viacom18, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Punjabi. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well that's new. Most likely just me reverting vandalism. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:04, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 08:58:06, 6 December 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Swordofneutrality

In your review of List of PlayStation games for PlayStation 4 and 5 you say that "The first source is just a blog", but this source is playstation.com, the official outlet for news on the brand, so you might have assessed its reliability incorrectly. Swordofneutrality (talk) 08:58, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Swordofneutrality (talk) 08:58, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No. It's the PlayStation blog. Regardless it's a primary source so it doesn't count for notability. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:05, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a secondary source but the notice on the draft mentions reliable sources as well. I would have thought that blog.playstation.com would be considered appropriate as a reliable source. Swordofneutrality (talk) 20:40, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
IT's a blog so most liekly not. Also, being a primary source does not always indicate it's reliable. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:42, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Anywhere in particular that I can help out? I'm done with my current project and I'd like to help where I can. The Night Watch ω (talk) 16:27, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@The Night Watch: I'd really appreciate help in adding the DYKs for all the video game articles up to November 30. I've sort of stopped work on it because I've gotten a bit busy and also don't wanna be in pain looking at every single DYK to try and figure out which one is a DYK and which one isn't. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:30, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Waging an edit war by a "Wikieditor" member

Blaze Wolf. A person named "WikiEditor" is vandalizing and reversing my edits to an article about the attack on Nazran. Please protect this page from vandalism. The raid on Nazran is an attack by the armed forces of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. And Ichkeria is not a bunch of militants, but a state with its own structures, including the military. The state that fought for its freedom from Russia during the Russian invasion... Please block this member or he will not stop fighting the edit war in this article. He even insulted me and addressed me in the feminine gender with the words "You are a big liar." Russian viki (talk) 16:31, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Don't bother me with edit wars. You need to discuss this with the user. I'm not here to take sides. Also if you need to use Google Translate then I suggest you edit on the Wiki of the language you speak natively. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:33, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please excuse my English. I translated through google translator. Russian viki (talk) 16:33, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Catholic University School and Tottenham

Hi, just saw your message. I think you may have me mistaken as I am not a Wikipedia editor, I only read the articles. I would never consciously vandalise an article on any wiki, I have no idea how my IP ended up here. 31.187.2.127 (talk) 13:21, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your IP is most likely a shared or dynamic IP, meaning someone other than you had your IP and vandalized the article. The Shared IP message appears to be missing from the warning however. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:00, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for rejecting that draft. Multiple authors, possibly sockpuppets of the same person, have been attempting to create a promotional article about him on the English Wikinews. Augusthorsesdroppings10 (talk) 17:30, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Augusthorsesdroppings10: (I thought you were a troll at first with your odd username choice) No problem! I only rejected it cause it had been rejected previously and then resubmitted. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:32, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think I get that a lot. My username change request at Meta-Wiki has been pending. Augusthorsesdroppings10 (talk) 17:34, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah alright. I'm just so used to trolls harassing me on my talk page that I've just learned to automatically assume any new talk page message is a troll harassing me. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:36, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Years in other calendars

Hi there Blaze Wolf, I just wanted to give you a heads-up with regard to an edit you made a few days ago. It is actually OK to include the year in a local calendar, as long as there is also an AD or CE style year. That's something I think many editors are not aware of, but MOS:ERA does allow for it – it's the last bullet point, "Other era systems". Since the date you removed didn't have a wikilink to the relevant calendar (Bikram Sambat, abbreviated B.S.) it didn't conform to the MOS, and I completely understand why you thought it wouldn't be appropriate info to include. It's a pretty obscure part of the MOS, but since this is something that crops up every now and then in drafts, I just wanted to make you aware of it. All the best, --bonadea contributions talk 11:11, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bonadea: Thanks for making me aware! I honestly had no clue what the heck "B.S." was as it sounded like complete BS (pun absolutely intended) it was made up. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:21, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Failed Submission

Dear Blaze,

I am upset to see you disliked my article on environmentalism. After reading your responce, I need clarification on which part of my article is "opinion". I did not include much personal thought outside the direct application to my major.

Best,

Thomas ThomasBrosnihan (talk) 14:01, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Aww, you reverted it

I thought it would be funny if I answered that one. Ah well. 😉 199.208.172.35 (talk) 18:20, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I almost reverted you just now since I've been harassed by IPs vandals and whatever. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:22, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fighting vandals often means winding up in their crosshairs, sadly. Take a break if you need one - others will keep fighting the good fight. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 18:33, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hot stars vs not as hot stars

In your modification of the article on the star Betelgeuse you said "stars are hot. If a star were cold it wouldn't exist or be a star" That is true of course, but the descriptions of stars assumes they are all hot enough to be a star. But there is a range of heat, and those that are hotter than other (blue stars are much hotter than red stars, for example) are described as "hot". See Blue supergiant, Stellar classification and Hertzsprung–Russell diagram. I am not sure if it is correct to describe Betelgeuse as "hot" (it is red, but perhaps it is a hot red, an hence the use of the word) but it is not uncommon to see the word "hot" used to describe particular stars.
