Even regular workplaces do have break rooms

Hoping you all are still alive and well or otherwise I apologize if I disturbed your slumber in the nether realm, I dare to ask you about this ancient historical issue I stumbled upon the day before morrow. There was this mysterious place called the Coffee lounge, which has been erased in the sands of time. I couldn't find deeper discussions about it (if you have such ancient documents please do share). Why was there such opposition to said lounge? It is normal usage in workplaces (public, private, volunteer) and institutions to have break rooms and cafeterias where workers, collaborators, volunteers can rest, socialize and chat of random things even non-work related. Because we're not a workplace? This is a series of interlinked documents on which every edit is recorded for the sands of time - chitchat is inappropriate. If you need a rest away from Wikipedia, stop editing it and go touch grass. If someone were to propose this now, I would suggest taking it to an offsite Discord server. But the context to this was that Esperanza was ostensibly a project to promote intereditor harmony and actually ended up building a navel-gazing community within a community that was becoming increasingly disruptive and which had little to do with the purpose for which the Wikipedia community exists - they were creating their own internal hierarchies and badges and sayings and having a good natter in the coffee lounge while the rest of us were editing away and then complaining that they weren't sufficiently privileged for the good work they did. Dev920 I see the ancient rage of battles past still searing hot! Oh ancient one, in Wikipedia certainly we do ad honorem volunteer work and thence certainly, in my humble opinion, the Wikipedia website is a type of virtual workplace. Workplace in the meaning of a place where someone does work in something. But I shall change the heading lest we delve into confusing paths, given that the concept may be different in different realms. I think the concept of a coffee lounge or a break room within Wikipedia for editors to socialize with each other in chit chat is good. But I understand if your views and other editors' views are very conservative regarding this. I am more of a liberal regarding this and I like the idea.
