Christopher Chan Bang (born October 3, 1997), better known by his Korean name and stage name Bang Chan (Korean: 방찬), is a Korean-Australian singer, rapper, songwriter, and composer from the South Korean boy group Stray Kids under JYP Entertainment. He is also a member of an in-house production team, and a sub-unit of Stray Kids, 3Racha.[1]

Life and career

Bang was born on October 3, 1997 in Seoul, South Korea and was raised in Sydney, Australia. He has a younger sister, Hannah and a younger brother, Lucas. He attended the Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and Chungdam High School. He can speak fluent English and Korean, as well as Japanese and basic Chinese. During his childhood, he trained in ballet and modern dance, and was a swimmer. At the age 13, he passed the 2010 JYP Entertainment Global Audition held in Australia and moved to Seoul.[2][3]

In late 2016, he formed a trio called 3Racha with fellow JYPE trainees Changbin and Han. They uploaded their first mixtape, J:/2017/mixtape onto SoundCloud.[4]

In 2017, he was announced to join the reality show Stray Kids (2017) as the leader of the male group.[5] He officially debuted as a member of the resulting boy group, Stray Kids on March 25, 2018.[6]
