Not done I'm not going to rename you as you have very few edits and they are mostly vandalism - blanking talk pages etc. Secretlondon 17:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not done You've never even edited the encyclopedia - just your userpage and those of your friends.. Secretlondon 23:49, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wil.holmes → Jeff Holmes

[edit]

Reason for renaming is that current user name does not reflect the article accurately.

Not done It's not an article it's your userpage. I can see you are trying to use your userpage as an article about yourself. I suggest you look at Wikipedia:Userpage and Wikipedia:Autobiography for more details. Secretlondon 12:26, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User:Dpcelestine → Dustin Celestine

[edit]
Not done Your userpage is not a suitable place for an article about yourself. Secretlondon 20:13, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IanTheMacFan → Ian01

[edit]
The logs say it exists which you can get by clicking on the name. this says it was created on 09:59, 10 April 2006. It meets the criteria for usurption as it hasn't made any edits. You can apply on the usurption page. Secretlondon 00:01, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not done You need to either come up with a new name or apply for usurption. Secretlondon 11:29, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: The requested username is already registered; see Special:CentralAuth. However, as this requested account has made no edits, it meets the criteria for being usurped; if you are an established user and wish to usurp it, please read and follow the process at m:Steward requests/Username changes. If you do not wish to usurp the username, please choose another name to be renamed to. WjBscribe 23:21, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Evilclown93 → Evilclown93

[edit]
  • Current name: Evilclown93 (talk contribs)
  • Note: Even though the names look identical, I'm actually registered as evilclown93, and trying to see whether it can be officially Evilclown93. Evilclown93 17:07, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Requested name: Evilclown93 (change username)
  • Reason: When I registered my name, I didn't capitalise it. Even though it is automatically capitalised by Wikipedia, if you look, for example, at my editcount page, it is not capitalised. I contacted a bureaucrat a few weeks back (Nichalp), and he suggested that I try to file a request to see what the function can do. I prefer my name to be capitalised. Thanks in advance. Evilclown93 17:05, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not done The tools don't co-operate, alas. It changes the capitalisation on the form so that I rename from Evilclown to Evilclown - and hence don't do anything. Sorry. Secretlondon 23:39, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Worth a try, anyways. Evilclown93 12:36, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could you rename to something else, then rename back? Probably worth testing with a test account first, in case it gets stuck at the temporary name. Ben Aveling 07:28, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Certified.Gangsta → NWA.Rep

[edit]
Clerk note: It does not appear that the ArbCom case is in fact over (see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Certified.Gangsta-Ideogram/Proposed decision, where there has been no motion to close). It has been previously suggested that its isn inappropriate to rename users under ArbCom sanction (as it appears this user will be for the next year). In addition, Certified.Gangsta has an extensive block history that would not be reattributed during the rename. WjBscribe 16:38, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I request the bureaucrats not change Certified.Gangsta's user name. User:Certified.Gangsta was previously known as the following usernames before he changed his username twice.
Certified.Gangsta was previously known as Bonafide.hustla and Freestyle.king before he changed his username twice in an attempt to hide his previous block log and misrepresent his identity. That is not the purpose of Wikipedia:Changing username. Certified.Gangsta has a very extensive and substantial block history that would not be reattributed during the rename. See this user's previous block log [1] [2] [3]. In addition, Certified.Gangsta is currently facing ArbCom sanctions and the ArbCom case is not over, so it is inappropriate to rename this user; see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Certified.Gangsta-Ideogram. See diffs here [4]. LionheartX 23:36, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Of the provided block logs, the only block of bonafide.hustla that wasn't retracted also blamed the revolverocelotx/LionheartX. And the only blocks of Certified.Gangsta were either for one second (not a real block), imposed for having the same practical joke on his user talk page that other people also have, retracted as being a mistake, or imposed for violating the spirit of 3RR, but not the letter.
The arbitration conclusions (whatever they end up being) can just as easily be applied to the new username, and block logs from previous usernames clearly are being easily traced, since they are constantly being used as ammunition. At any rate, only recent block logs needs to be quickly available at a glance, and he hasn't had a legitimate block of more than one second with his current username anyways. Bladestorm 06:06, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Certified.Gangsta definitely have a very extensive and long block history. I'm not talking about the blocks for "practical joke" on his userpage or the blocks that were retracted, but Certified.Gangsta's blocks for personal attacks, disruption, 3RR violations, and other serious policy violations. Block logs are not reattributed during the rename and they are not "easily traceable" as shown but Certified.Gangsta's recent blocks for 3RR violations, as they would be much longer if the admin knew about Certified.Gangsta's extensive block history. All of this user's blocks, not just his recent blocks are important, this sets a dangerous precedent if every problem users could just change their username to hide their block logs as suggested on this talk page.
User:Freestyle.king/User:Bonafide.hustla/User:Certified.Gangsta are all clearly the same person who has already changed his username twice in an attempt to hide his block log and they should all be treated as one individual. Certified.Gangsta have an extensive and substantial block history for vandalism, personal attacks, trolling, POV pushing, 3RR violations, edit warring, accusing established editors of vandalism, and disruptive behavior[5] [6] [7]. Certified.Gangsta's request to change his username in an attempt to hide his block log during his ArbCom case is highly controversial and should not be done. In any case, Certified.Gangsta is currently facing formal ArbCom sanctions and the ArbCom case is not over, so changing his username would be highly inappropriate. LionheartX 07:24, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Stop abusing this page or you'll be banned, admins already told you you're on a very short leash. You don't have to worry if admins can't trace my block log, those members from your fanclub will take care of that. As a parallel, why don't we look at your block log and those of your banned sockpuppets (without going through the changing username process)? [[8]][[9]][[10]] [[11]] [[12]] [[13]]. Now, this is a "dangerous precedent."--Certified.Gangsta 07:46, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Certified.Gangsta is the only user abusing this page by making ad hominem attacks. This username request is clearly made in bad faith and this username change should not be done. If the admins can't trace Certified.Gangsta's block log, this impairs their judgement call on how long to block Certified.Gangsta as shown by his recent blocks. In any case, this username change would be highly inappropriateand confusing because Certified.Gangsta's ArbCom case is not over. LionheartX 07:53, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay... so NOW you're going so far as to actually describe his request as "bad faith". You're actually trying to suggest that he's trying to evade his history by announcing his old and new requested name on a public page. Not exactly very sneaky if you ask me. Bladestorm 08:05, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is a fact that block logs are not reattributed when a user is renamed. It doesn't matter whether this page is public or not, the fact that is that admins are not going to know about Certified.Gangsta's extensive block log when they block for other violations. Please note that Certified.Gangsta is facing formal ArbCom sanctions and the ArbCom case is not over so this username change would be very inappropriate. Other users have also objected to renaming this user[14]. See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Certified.Gangsta-Ideogram for details. LionheartX 08:10, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PLEASE STOP SPAMMING THIS PAGE NOW. You're not in any position to criticize a change of username through proper channel when you are the one who created ban-evading sockpuppets. User:RevolverOcelotX User:RaGnaRoK+SepHír0tH User:Guardian_Tiger User:Apocalyptic_Destroyer User:ApocalypticDestroyer's--Certified.Gangsta 08:14, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Certified.Gangsta, please stop making personal attacks. Note that Certified.Gangsta has admitted that he abused sockpuppets and created the attack account, N1u (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log).See [15] [16]. N1u's contributions speak for themselves. [17]. Also note that N1u's userpage says "Sockpuppets of Freestyle.king". See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Certified.Gangsta-Ideogram/Evidence for diffs and details. It is inappropriate to rename users under ArbCom sanctions as Certified.Gangsta is facing right now. In any case, the Certified.Gangsta's ArbCom case is still not over and this username change would be highly inappropriate and should definitely not be done. LionheartX 08:19, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Delay I would like to suggest that this username change be delayed until the relevant arbitration case ends, but not for exactly the same reasons as User:LionheartX.
I assume that User:Certified.Gangsta wishes to change his user name for all the best and valid reasons, as he has stated. However, a username change right now would objectively cause confusion for many users involved at the case of Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Certified.Gangsta-Ideogram before the Arbitration Committee.
This is because block logs, which is an issue in the arbitration case, do not get reattributed. Furthermore, a user name change would cause confusion to users adding evidence, commenting on evidence, proposing remedies, and, perhaps, for arbitrators in making their decisions.
It would do little harm but achieve more benefits in delaying this change until the arbitration case ends - which, based on the state of the proposed decision page, is likely to be sooner rather than later.
Normally I wouldn't think this is an issue, but given the importance of the formal arbitration process to the integrity of Wikipedia and to the users involved, I think the interest of that process needs to be given high consideration here. --Sumple (Talk) 09:21, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not done I'm not renaming editors potentially subject to arbcomm restrictions. I am also not renaming editors with extensive block logs. There is no voting - it's at my discretion. Any other bureaucrat may call it differently but I reckon this is pretty clear cut. Secretlondon 18:39, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that's what I thought. Dang it. I never noticed they made any edits 'cause they didn't even have a userpage. In that case, never mind. I don't want to use a completely unrecognizable name. Thanks. ~ EdBoy[c] 23:14, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Firefoxman → FireFoxMan

[edit]
Hmm. There's a User:FireFox as you mention on your user page. There's also the bit of the Username policy that says "..Match the name or trademark of a well-known company or group (especially if the user promotes it), unless the name is generic and could reasonably refer to something else.". I believe that both of you are referring to Mozilla Firefox, the web browser and therefore if that's not allowed, neither of you should be allowed. However as there is the similarity too - I'm not going to rename you to look slightly more similar. However I don't think I'm going to ask you to rename yourself either (unless people have strong feelings). At a brief glance you don't appear to editing articles that relate to Mozilla. Secretlondon 15:24, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure if one is allowed to post comments here, but I think that "Firefoxman" is more similar to "Mozila Firefox" than "FireFoxMan". According to CamelCase, "FireFoxMan" is composed by three words, which is too different from "FirefoxMan". Rjgodoy 10:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
By moving your userpages to the requested name you've just made things confusing and not actually changed your username. User:Game-uh Cube is still in breach of the username policy as it clearly refers to Game Cube and your username must not "Match the name of a well-known company or group". Where were you told that it was inappropriate? Wikipedia:Username_policy has:

"A username that is inappropriate in another language or one that includes misspellings and substitutions such as through Leetspeak may still be considered inappropriate in general."

"Usernames should not be considered inappropriate unless one of the general reasons applies: use common sense.". Although your name is in leet I don't consider pwning to be a real world violent action. I think the sentence on leet is to cover things like pen1s rather than this. I found myself editing the articles here and, before I knew it, I was a WP:DBZ member! I never liked my current username so I've been wanting to change it to a cooler name; since I have some spare time on my hands, I decided Sesshomaru is a name I'll want to have which is based on a fictional character. Oh, one last thing, I want to keep all my contributions if any way possible. Will the name "I'm anonymous" redirect to my new username? I prefer it not to, as it seems too strange a redirect, can it be deleted instead and become a future account for someone else? ~I'm anonymous

Any thing to do with racism has been taken off my home page, it was only meant as a joke, the people in the photo are my own family, so why would I be racist towards my own kind. Also I have been removing lots of spam and vandalism and also issued quit a lot of warnings. Shouldn't this help atone for any previous sins that I may have committed once before.
