Welcome

[edit]

Hello, RockySurfaces and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:27, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oak Ridges Moraine

[edit]

Hi RockySurfaces. Thanks for your additions to Oak Ridges Moraine through you class project. One minor issue is the use of headings, which should use wiki syntax. Plain-text headings, as created in this edit, cause problems for individuals reading the article using screen readers or other assistive devices and are basically interpreted as stray text. Please don't format section titles this way. I've reverted the change. Mindmatrix 16:32, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mindmatrix
I was unaware of this issue for that portion of users. When copying the information from my draft into the live article, the paragraph headings popped up and was confused as to why that happened. Now I know that it's an important feature, thanks to you. If those occur in the future, I will be sure to leave them if autogenerated. I also want to apologize for changing them back to plain-text in a previous edit. RockySurfaces (talk) 21:49, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No trouble. There's lots of rules and policies here, and we don't expect new editors to be aware of them. If you ever have any questions, feel free to leave a message on my talk page, or for general assistance on Canada-related subjects, there's Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board. I hope you and your classmates are enjoying your projects here! Mindmatrix 00:23, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
