Character testing began in Zhou and Qin, flourished in Tang and Song , and is an art of explaining mood by dismantling and combining words.
Song Xieshi was famous for being good at measuring characters . "Xie Shi's True Biography of Testing Characters" contains: "To determine the good or bad luck of characters, the meaning of the whole font should be the first, and the second is to disassemble and make do with it.". Li Chunfeng , Yuan Tiangang , Zhou Lianggong , Zhang Chengcha , Cheng Sheng and Shao Kangjie are all famous word testers.
